Hi Scotty, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I always wanted to be a trial lawyer and defend the vulnerable and needy since I was a kid. The great movie ” To Kill a Mockingbird” was my impetus to be like defense attorney “Atticus Finch” and stand up to encroaching authority and bigotry. In 1987, I started off my profession as a prosecutor in the Miami-Dade State’s Attorneys Office and then transitioned into being a criminal defense attorney in 1991. In addition to my legal work in the court room, I have also experienced the intellectual side of law as an adjunct professor at the various colleges and universities in South Florida. I have handled cases all over the country yet, today, I generally limit my defense of people to Miami-Dade and Broward counties. I handle all criminal cases, in both Federal and State court.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are always struggles in any walks of life; there will be peaks and valleys. However, for every problem there should be a solution so a lack of a smooth road can never be an obstacle, it’s just part of the normal process.

I am a sole practioner so the work is never delegated, I handle every important facet of a case. What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Be honest and straight forward, dedicate the time needed to achieve the best result, strive to be patient for the various needs, exemplify professionalism and appropriate decorum and to always pursue victory
