Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachelle Jean-Louis, LMHC-QS.
Hi Rachelle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
If you had told me years ago that I’d one day be running my own counseling practice, mentoring other clinicians, and creating wellness tools for women, I probably would’ve smiled politely — but deep down, I wouldn’t have believed it. My path into mental health was about following a calling to help people heal.
It all started back at Florida A&M University, where I discovered how powerful it can be to simply listen — to truly hold space for someone. That passion grew into a career that has now spanned over 17 years. I’ve worked in university counseling center, hospitals, corporate environments, and community programs — each experience shaping the kind of therapist and person I’ve become.
But the real turning point came eight years ago, when I decided to step out on faith and start Rejuvenate Minds Counseling Center, LLC. I wanted to build something that felt different — a space where individuals, especially women of color, could breathe, unpack their experiences, and start to feel whole again. What began as a small idea quickly turned into a mission to help others not just survive, but truly thrive.
Over time, my work expanded beyond therapy sessions. I found myself mentoring other clinicians who wanted to build their own private practices, developing workshops for teens and women, and creating journals and self-guided tools that help people process their emotions in everyday life. Each new project has been a reflection of what I’ve learned — that healing isn’t a straight line, but a journey of reflection, grace, and growth.
Today, I see my role as more than a clinician. I am here helping people reconnect with who they are and reminding them that their story, no matter how messy or painful, still has purpose.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting my private practice was both exciting and terrifying. I had to learn how to be not just a therapist, but also a business owner, marketer, and manager. There were days when the clients didn’t come, when the paperwork felt endless, and when self-doubt crept in louder than my confidence.
But looking back, those struggles built resilience. They forced me to set boundaries, practice the same self-care I preach, and trust that even small steps forward matter. Every challenge taught me something — about faith, persistence, and the importance of community. I’ve learned that success doesn’t always look like perfection; sometimes it’s just the courage to keep showing up, even when things feel uncertain.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Through my practice, Rejuvenate Minds Counseling Center, LLC, I help individuals — particularly high-achieving women and women of color — navigate anxiety, self-doubt, and the constant pressure to “have it all together.” My approach blends evidence-based therapy with compassion, cultural understanding, and authenticity. I believe in helping clients not just cope, but truly reconnect with themselves.
I also create journals, group programs, and workshops focused on healing, self-reflection, and empowerment — like my journal soon to be released “Exhale: Time to Reflect, Process, and Grow,” which was designed to help Black women process anxiety through intentional journaling.
What I’m most proud of is that my work continues to grow in ways that serve my community. I’ve been able to combine my clinical expertise, business experience, and creativity to make mental wellness approachable and relatable. What truly sets me apart is that I don’t just focus on treatment — I focus on the individual person as a whole. My goal is to help people move from surviving to thriving, to see themselves as whole even in the midst of healing.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
If I could offer one piece of advice, it would be this: don’t wait for the perfect mentor — build your own circle of support. Stay curious, stay teachable, and don’t be afraid to reach out and introduce yourself. The people who are meant to guide and walk with you will show up when you show up fully as yourself.
