Meet Jacqueline Gonzalez Touzet of Touzet Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacqueline Gonzalez Touzet.

Hi Jacqueline, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Jacqueline Gonzalez Touzet, AIA, LEED AP, is the co-founder of Touzet Studio, an award-winning, architecture firm based in Little Havana, Miami. Known for its innovative, sustainable, and culturally inspired designs, the studio works with global leaders like Apple and Nike, alongside visionary private clients and leading developers who value excellence in design and innovation, with a respect for climate, culture and history.

Born in Havana, Jacqueline draws on her Cuban heritage and deep connection to Miami’s subtropical landscape to craft designs that honor history while embracing the future. Since founding Touzet Studio in 2004 with her husband, Carlos, she has become a leading voice in climate resilience, adaptive reuse, and equitable design.

Jacqueline’s work reflects her belief that architecture can preserve culture, empower communities, and create a lasting impact.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In an era dominated by global mega-firms, Touzet Studio stands out as an atelier—a studio where design, craft, and a hyper-local approach take center stage. Balancing this commitment to excellence with the rapid pace of technological innovation in the industry is no small feat. Finding the right partners who share our vision and dedication to quality has been one of our biggest challenges.

Staying true to our values means continually innovating, learning, and refining the craft we love. It’s this focus that allows us to create designs that are thoughtful, timeless, and deeply connected to the communities we serve.

My personal story is very common in Miami, which is a city of immigrants. My parents came from Cuba with very little, I left when I was 11 months old. I have lived in Miami and Panama and went to Miami Dade and then Cornell on a scholarship. As a first generation college graduate, a latina Principal – I am used to being a first or in a small minority – and I am so grateful for the opportunities this city and this country have offered me, and our studio.

As you know, we’re big fans of Touzet Studio. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
