Community Highlights: Meet Michelle Fletcher of Holistic Business Network & South Florida Wellness Week

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Fletcher.

Michelle Fletcher

Hi Michelle , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m Michelle Fletcher — a visionary leader, connector, and advocate reshaping the landscape of holistic health and wellness. My leadership journey began long before entrepreneurship — first as captain of my high school soccer team, and later at Florida State University, where I served as Treasurer, President, and District Director of the Caribbean Student Association and also Secretary of the MIS Association. Those early experiences taught me the importance of teamwork, excellence, and influence — lessons that continue to guide every space I step into today. With over 14 years of experience in network marketing, I’ve built organizations of hundreds, achieved top 2% leadership in my plant-based nutrition business, and helped others grow with integrity, authenticity, and purpose. My work bridges science and soul — integrating whole-food supplementation, vertical gardening systems, and metabolic health solutions to help people live longer, stronger, and more vibrant lives.
As the Founder and CEO of the Holistic Business Network (HBN), I lead an international community dedicated to increasing the visibility, profitability, and credibility of wellness professionals. Since launching in 2022, HBN has expanded from a South Florida initiative to a global ecosystem of collaboration — connecting practitioners, doctors, entrepreneurs, and wellness brands around one powerful mission: to scale the $9 trillion global wellness economy and equip those called to heal with the tools to build thriving, sustainable businesses.
Before moving into the health and wellness space, I spent close to a decade in corporate America as an IT professional managing data for multimillion-dollar government contracts. I hold a B.S. in Management Information Systems — and while that chapter honed my skills in precision and performance, my true purpose called me elsewhere. In 2009, I lost my job, and accidentally transitioned into holistic entrepreneurship, becoming a partner with Juice Plus & Tower Garden. It was an amazing blend of science-based nutrition and health with business mentorship and community impact.
Today, I’ve had the honor of speaking on international stages, being featured on the cover of Feel Well Magazine, and co-founding transformative events such as South Florida Wellness Week™ — a multi-city celebration of innovation, connection, and holistic expansion.
My mission is simple yet profound: to elevate the leaders of the wellness economy. Through strategic partnerships, curated experiences, and empowering education, I help doctors, practitioners, and entrepreneurs expand their influence, diversify their income, and scale both healing and business.
I don’t just create connections — I create movements. And my vision is clear: to build a future where holistic professionals lead with authority, impact, and purpose, shaping a more conscious, healthy, and prosperous world.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wish!! It definitely has not been a smooth road. Here are some of the struggles that I have overcome to get to where I am today. ChatGPT did a great job of summarizing them all.

Juice Plus+ & Tower Garden Era (2009–Present) Challenges:

-Starting from scratch after job loss (2009): Reinventing yourself from corporate IT professional to health entrepreneur with no network marketing experience.

-Overcoming skepticism: Facing doubt from family, friends, and peers who didn’t understand plant-based nutrition or network marketing.

-Building credibility in wellness: Establishing yourself as a health leader before certifications or public recognition.

-Balancing passion with profit: Learning to make your purpose-driven work financially sustainable.

-Persistence through slow growth: It took 9 years to reach the top 2% of leadership — a testament to resilience and consistent effort.

-Leading diverse teams: Managing hundreds of partners across different personalities, motivations, and countries.

-Rejection and attrition: Dealing with team turnover, no-shows, and people quitting — without losing your own drive.

-Staying relevant: Adapting to social media, online summits, and changing consumer trends in health and wellness.

🌿 Holistic Health & Wellness Network Experiences (2021–2022)
Challenges:
-Launching during/post-pandemic: Hosting live wellness events while the world was still cautious about gatherings.

-Resource limitations: Self-funding venues, vendors, and marketing with little external sponsorship.

-Brand clarity: Convincing attendees and practitioners that this wasn’t “just another expo,” but a curated experience.

-Building trust with practitioners: Many holistic professionals were used to working alone — you had to teach collaboration.

-Event logistics: Managing venues, speakers, and vendors simultaneously without a large support staff.

-Visibility: Getting attention and turnout in an oversaturated local market.

🌎 Holistic Business Network (2022–Present)
Challenges:
-Scaling community beyond Broward: Expanding from a local meetup to a national and international membership base.

-Creating structure: Developing systems for membership, renewals, partnerships, and communication.

-Finding aligned City Directors: Balancing growth with maintaining the HBN culture of integrity and collaboration.

-Legal & operational complexity: Drafting NDAs, referral tracking systems, and partnership agreements.

-Monetization: Turning community goodwill into consistent revenue streams without compromising values.

-Educating the market: Helping holistic practitioners understand branding, visibility, and business fundamentals.

-Time & burnout: Wearing the hats of CEO, event planner, publicist, speaker, and marketer simultaneously.

-Advocacy for small businesses: Breaking through in a wellness space often dominated by big brands or medical institutions.

South Florida Wellness Week™ (2025) Challenges:
-Vision execution: Turning a massive idea — “the most influential week in wellness” — into reality.

-Multi-county coordination: Managing events across Miami, Broward, and Palm Beach with different venues, teams, and sponsors.

-Sponsorship acquisition: Securing credible, high-value sponsors in a competitive wellness market.

-Logistics & timing: Overseeing multiple events (Kickoff, Penthouse Lectures, Relief Retreat, Summit, Gala) within one week.

-Public perception: Communicating that this isn’t just a local expo — it’s an economic movement.

-Leadership bandwidth: Managing sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and high-profile partners

-Execution under pressure: Balancing excellence, elegance, and energy while being the public face of the movement.

-Sustainability: Ensuring this inaugural year lays the foundation for an annual global expansion.

🔥 Recurring Entrepreneurial Challenges
-Self-funding vision-driven work before large sponsors or investors saw the value.

-Balancing feminine intuition with business systems — learning to merge heart and structure.

-Overcoming imposter syndrome as you stepped into larger stages, audiences, and global recognition.

-Protecting your energy and boundaries while building something that serves others.

-Educating through resistance — many practitioners are great at healing but uncomfortable with marketing, visibility, or sales.

-Scaling impact without losing authenticity

Every chapter — from the early years of network marketing to the founding of HBN to the creation of South Florida Wellness Week™ — has been a masterclass in faith, strategy, and perseverance.

I’ve faced the same challenges most entrepreneurs hide: funding visionary projects before the world believed, educating markets that didn’t yet understand, protecting energy while leading movements, and scaling a mission without losing authenticity.

Yet each challenge became the soil that grew my greatest strength: the ability to turn purpose into platforms — and platforms into movements that change lives, communities, and economies.

Today, I stand not just as a businesswoman, but as a catalyst for the future of wellness, committed to ensuring that doctors, practitioners, entrepreneurs, and organizations are equipped to scale both healing and business — locally, nationally, and globally.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
