Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Vazquez- Mack.
Hi Jasmine, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
As I watched the nurses care for my terminally ill dad, I realized I wanted to do the same for those in need. Therefore, I became a nursing assistant, then a nurse extender followed by monitor technician and phlebotomist. Soon after I enrolled in nursing school and graduated with my baccalaureate in nursing. After working as a Registered Nurse, educator, simulation specialist, and presenting at conferences for several years; I wanted to do more with my patients and students. I went on to obtain my masters in nurse practitioner studies. Today, I am a proud Nurse Practitioner that specializes in hormone replacement therapy, weight loss and wellness, as well as functional medicine. This has allowed me to care for my patients at a level that not only makes a difference at the moment but for the rest of their lives. Allowing them to live healthier, more fulfilled, and happier lives. I could not be more proud.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing in this life comes without challenges. Along the way I was faced with discrimination, being told I wasn’t good enough, not having enough funds to pay for school and living expenses, barely enough time for studying and preparing school work, and doing internships without pay. Not to forget my own personal struggles with family and my own with thinking I was not smart enough to complete my dream. I am very happy to say- I persevered and proudly have achieved what I set out to do.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a nurse practitioner I specialize in hormone replacement therapy, weight loss therapy, wellness and functional medicine. I am most proud of how I am able to assist my patients in learning about their body and how it works. It fills me with joy when I see my patients have that “aha” moment as they see and feel their bodies change. Not only are they feeling better, they are also looking great. I believe what sets me apart is having been a registered nurse before becoming a nurse practitioner. This allowed me to really perfect my people skills and have the most understanding for my patients struggles. I not only know but feel how to better teach my patients about their bodies/illnesses and find ways so that they understand the importance of needed health changes for them. I am a better practitioner by having started as an aide that worked herself up to a proud nurse practitioner.
I am happy to have found Lindora Plantation and be part of their team as their Nurse Practitioner. Here I get to assist our clients in their wellness journey by creating individualized weight loss therapy, hormone replacement therapy, and wellness therapy plans. Each person is special to me and I love watching their progress. At Lindora our clients are never left to guess their next step, each client is hand held and each has their own supported goals. Our team is actually pretty awesome!
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I owe so very much to my mother Awilda who has never stopped believing in me. As well as my father Ismael who right before passing encouraged me to continue with my education. I am grateful to them both for their struggles just so that I could have an opportunity to grow. Also, my sister Jeannette who has always pushed me forward. Along the way I had friends, teachers, and employers that had much faith in me and cheered me on. I cannot thank all of my cheerleaders enough for all of their prayers and kind words. Most of all my faith in God was and still is my pillar.
