Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Joli.
Hi Ana, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
From Global Finance to Conscious Fashion: The Reinvention of Ana Joli
For Ana Joli, creativity and strategy have always gone hand in hand. Originally from the Dominican Republic, Joli’s journey began in Latin America but quickly became global. At the age of 20, she relocated with her family to Miami, Florida — a move that opened the door to new opportunities and a life defined by learning and adaptability.
Determined to make her mark, Joli immersed herself in education and business, mastering English, Italian, and Portuguese while earning a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and an MBA in Global Business. Her professional path led her into international finance, where she spent years navigating complex markets across England, Singapore, Uruguay, Chile, the United States, and the Dominican Republic. Each assignment deepened her understanding of global economies — and, just as importantly, of people and culture.
“Working across six countries taught me resilience and perspective,” she says. “Every challenge became an opportunity to grow, both professionally and personally.”
But it was her deep respect for cultural expression — particularly through textiles and craftsmanship — that sparked a new direction. The inspiration was rooted in her childhood, in her father’s tailor shop, Casa Benito, where she first experienced the artistry of garment creation.
In 2020, Joli took a bold leap and launched @amanosbyanajoli, a sustainable fashion label built around her belief in creativity without waste. Her 2025 collection feature handmade garments and handbags crafted from macramé, crochet, coffee sacks, wine corks, and reclaimed fabrics — materials that might otherwise be discarded. Each piece reflects her vision of fashion as both cultural storytelling and environmental responsibility.
Her work has been featured in Essex Living and Kreole magazines, and her collections have been showcased in Leigh-on-Sea, London, Miami, Palm Beach, Napa, and the Dominican Republic. Yet, Joli remains as focused on purpose as on design. “For me, fashion isn’t just about aesthetics,” she explains. “It’s about honoring creativity, culture, and the community we are part of.” Ana is a member of the Dominican Designers Association (ADiRD),
Ana actively mentors young professionals pursuing careers in both corporate fields and the creative industries. She describes this work as a continuation of her lifelong commitment to inclusion, self development, embracing innovation and taking charge of your destiny — values that have shaped every chapter of her career.
Now based in England with her husband, businessman Ian Green,. He so. son Ronald who was born in Miami and raised in England also made UK its forever home. Ana balances her international life with a grounded passion for craftsmanship, culture, and community. When she’s not designing or advising, she can be found writing, dancing, traveling, or cooking traditional Latin American dishes — each, in its own way, another expression of her creative DNA.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In both my banking career and my journey as a fashion entrepreneur, I’ve faced my share of obstacles — but I’ve always chosen to see them as opportunities. Banking has evolved tremendously over the years, and with that evolution come constant challenges. Having worked across six countries and diverse cultures, each experience became a lesson in adaptability and growth. I don’t dwell on setbacks; instead, I focus on what lies beyond the chaos, rise above it, learn, and keep moving forward.
In fashion, my greatest challenge has been not having a formal education in design — and perhaps, not fitting the mold of a conventional designer. But that has also been my greatest strength. I taught myself to sew and design through online courses, attended every class I could, connected with other creatives, and allowed my imagination to lead the way. Along the journey, I’ve also learned the business side of fashion while staying true to my ethos — creativity with purpose, and beauty without waste.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Ana Joli: Leading with Integrity, Culture, and Creative Vision
What sets Ana Joli apart is her rare ability to bridge worlds — finance and fashion, structure and creativity, governance and purpose. A multilingual compliance leader and entrepreneur, Joli has built a career grounded in integrity and cultural intelligence.
In banking, she has become known for her expertise in anti-bribery, anti-corruption, and financial crime compliance, managing global frameworks for some of the world’s leading financial institutions. But beyond technical mastery, she’s recognized for something more distinctive — her ability to humanize compliance, connecting policy and purpose.
“Colleagues often tell me I bring clarity in the middle of complexity,” she says. “I try to make ethics practical — not just a checklist, but a culture.”
Having lived and worked across six countries — from Singapore and London to Miami and Santiago — Joli’s approach is shaped by deep cultural awareness. “Culture influences behaviour,” she explains. “Understanding that is key to building trust and ethical conduct across borders.”
She’s most proud of having built an international career through adaptability and courage, carving a space for herself in industries not always designed for women of color or diverse voices. “Every country, every challenge has taught me something — not just about business, but about people,” she reflects.
That same philosophy guides her creative venture, @amanosbyanajoli, a sustainable fashion label born from her belief in creativity without waste. “Both in compliance and design, I’m guided by the same principle — integrity. Whether it’s financial systems or fabric, what we build should last, have purpose, and do good.”
It’s this blend of discipline, empathy, and innovation that defines Ana Joli. In every field she touches, she brings not only global experience, but a conviction that leadership — like creativity — is most powerful when it’s authentic, ethical, and human.
