Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Eddy.
Hi Scott, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After 10 years in investment banking, I moved overseas and lived in Europe and Asia for 17 years. While living in Bangkok, I started the first digital agency in Asia, we were the ‘go-to’ agency when the region was really establishing itself as a destination, and it remained the biggest one in the region for 5 years. Now I travel full-time while teaching brands how to turn storytelling into ROI for the hospitality industry. @MrScottEddy is a marketing agency with a heavy focus on the hospitality industry. While my personal brand on social media is the first thing you see, underneath is a full service marketing agency, where we provide the following services: photography, videography, influencer campaigns, social media workshops, public speaking, brand partnerships.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I first started in this business, I was in a completely new world. Moving to Asia wasn’t just a change in geography, it was a total shift in how life and business operated. You have to remember, I left everything I knew behind and landed in a place where the culture, the business etiquette, even the rhythm of daily life were completely different. I had to learn how people think, how they communicate, and most importantly, how they build trust, because business in Asia runs on relationships, not transactions. It took time to earn that respect and to understand that success there isn’t about how fast you move, it’s about how deeply you connect.
Then, just when I started getting my footing, social media exploded onto the scene and turned everything upside down. Overnight, the way brands communicated, the way people consumed information, the entire landscape changed. There was no roadmap. I had to adapt in real time, learning, experimenting, failing, and rebuilding. The combination of cultural adaptation and the birth of the digital era was intense, but it also shaped how I see the world today. It taught me that if you can stay open-minded, keep learning, and embrace change instead of resisting it, you can build something extraordinary out of chaos.
We’ve been impressed with @MrScottEddy, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
@MrScottEddy is essentially a modern-day digital agency built around freedom, relationships, and results. There’s no office, no headquarters, no borders. My entire business operates online, which means I can work from anywhere in the world, whether that’s a hotel in Bangkok, a cruise ship in Antarctica, or a café in Lisbon. What matters isn’t where I am, it’s the strategy and execution behind every project. I built this model intentionally because I believe the future of business isn’t about location, it’s about connection. My brand thrives on collaboration, speed, and adaptability, and that’s what allows me to deliver high-level results for clients in every corner of the world.
What I do through @MrScottEddy covers a full spectrum of digital storytelling and brand growth for the hospitality and travel industry. That includes influencer campaigns, social media strategy, workshops, content creation, drone photography, video production, and consulting on digital marketing and storytelling strategy. Every project I take on is focused on turning storytelling into ROI. Whether it’s helping a hotel redefine its brand presence, leading an influencer campaign for a cruise line, or building out a long-term content strategy for a destination, everything I do is about driving engagement, awareness, and tangible business results.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I’ve taken a lot of risks in my life, but I’ve never been reckless. I think risk becomes easier to process when you’ve already faced the worst thing imaginable. My father was killed in a plane crash when I was 18, just a few weeks before I graduated high school. Losing him changed everything. When something that traumatic happens so early in life, your perspective on fear, failure, and risk shifts completely. You stop worrying about what might go wrong, because you’ve already lived through the unimaginable. That loss gave me a kind of clarity. It made me realize that life isn’t something to tiptoe through, it’s something to engage with fully.
So when I decided to move overseas, it wasn’t about running from something, it was about running toward possibility. I had a good career in investment banking, but I wanted something more meaningful. Moving to Asia with no roadmap, no network, and no guarantees was a massive risk, but it ended up being the best decision of my life. It forced me to adapt, to build connections, and to create opportunities that didn’t exist before. That’s how I built my first digital agency, which eventually became the largest in the region. To me, risk isn’t about gambling with your future. It’s about betting on yourself. And after everything I’ve experienced, that’s a bet I’ll always be willing to make.
