Rising Stars: Meet Breanna Clarke of Pembroke Pines

Today we’d like to introduce you to Breanna Clarke.

Hi Breanna , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My love for baking began growing up in the heart of rural Jamaica. As a little girl, I’d look for any excuse to bake cakes for anyone who stopped by our home. Birthdays were my favorite, they gave me the perfect reason to experiment with new recipes and express my creativity.

That spark only grew stronger in 2016 when I began helping a friend at her bakery in Montego Bay (Jo’s Cake Box). It was there that I truly fell in love with the art of baking. I learned so much more than techniques and recipes, I discovered the pure joy of creating something meaningful for others. Every cake became its own little adventure.

Fast forward to 2017, I moved to New York and started baking for my friends at school, just for fun. The compliments and encouragement I received inspired me to start a small social media page called ‘Baked by Bre’. What began as a hobby quickly turned into something bigger, at age 19 I was featured on NY1 News. That moment changed everything. It made me realize that baking wasn’t just something I loved, it was something I was meant to do.

When I later moved to South Florida to pursue a degree in Speech and Language Pathology, I discovered that while I was good at it, my heart was somewhere else. Baking always felt like home. So I kept it going on the side, even while working another job.

Eventually, I rebranded to ‘Bree’s Bakery’ and began building a loyal clientele, people who trusted me to make their most special moments a bit sweeter, from birthdays to weddings and everything in between. Each cake became a part of someone’s happiest memory, and that’s what I love most about what I do.

I’ll never forget something a dear client once told me: “You’ll know when it’s time. God will never give you a vision without a provision.” Those words stuck with me and gave me the courage to fully bet on myself and pursue my dream.

Today, Bree’s Bakery is so much more than just cakes. It’s about connection, creativity, and spreading a little sweetness wherever I can. That’s what inspires me every single day, knowing that something I create can bring joy to someone else’s life.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like most meaningful journeys, the road has had its share of twists and turns. There have been long nights spent perfecting a cake that simply wouldn’t come together, moments of doubt, and times when balancing creativity with the demands of business felt overwhelming. But each challenge has shaped me into a stronger, more focused version of myself.

Baking within itself requires patience, resilience, and an unwavering belief in your vision. It’s not just about creating something beautiful, it’s about pushing through the moments when things fall apart and finding the strength to start again. Those experiences have taught me that success isn’t defined by perfection, but by persistence.

Being an entrepreneur has given me a deep appreciation for consistency, the act of showing up every day, even when it gets difficult, and staying true to your purpose. I’m truly grateful for the incredible support system around me: my family, friends, and loyal clients who trust me to bring their sweetest moments to life. Their faith in my craft challenges me to keep innovating, to keep creating, and to keep growing.

At the end of the day, every obstacle has been part of a greater process, one that’s made both Bree’s Bakery and I stronger, more creative, and more connected to the community we serve.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At Bree’s Bakery, I specialize in creating custom cakes and desserts that are just as stunning to look at as they are to taste. Every design is handcrafted with care, creativity, and a deep appreciation for detail, because for me, it’s never just about baking a cake, it’s about creating an experience. I want every client to feel the love, artistry, and intention that goes into each order.

I’m best known for my ability to bring a client’s vision to life, whether it’s a timeless wedding cake, a whimsical birthday design, or an elegant dessert table, I’m able to transform my clients’ visions into edible art.

What I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me. Every celebration I’m invited to be part of is a privilege, a chance to add something sweet and meaningful to life’s most special moments. Seeing the look of joy and surprise on a client’s face when they see their cake for the first time is a feeling I’ll never take for granted.

What truly sets Bree’s Bakery apart is the personal connection behind everything I do. I take the time to understand each client’s story and translate that into edible art that feels uniquely theirs. It’s not just about the beauty of the final piece, but the experience, from concept to creation that makes it truly special.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My biggest advice to anyone just starting out is to trust the process. Every challenge, every setback, every small win is all part of the journey that shapes you. Success rarely happens overnight, and the moments that feel the hardest often teach you the lessons you’ll rely on most later.

When I first started, I thought perfection was the goal. Over time, I realized that growth is far more important. It’s okay to make mistakes, to evolve, and to learn as you go. What truly matters is consistency, showing up, even when you don’t have it all figured out.

I also wish I had known earlier the importance of valuing yourself and your craft. It’s easy to underestimate your worth when you’re new, but confidence in your talent and your vision is what attracts the right opportunities and the right clients.

Most importantly, stay rooted in why you started. Passion is the foundation, it will carry you through the long nights, the uncertainty, and the moments of doubt. Surround yourself with people who uplift and inspire you, stay curious, and never stop refining your art. Because in the end, your journey, with all its twists and turns is what will make your story, and your success, uniquely yours.
