An Inspired Chat with Habiba Faisal

Habiba Faisal shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Habiba, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Honestly, I think I’m being called to step into spaces that I used to think weren’t meant for me, to own my voice more confidently, to take on opportunities that once felt “too big,” and to build things that actually reflect what I believe in. I’ve always had this quiet urge to create something meaningful. Whether that’s through tech, storytelling, or even something outside my comfort zone but fear of judgment or failure held me back before.

Now, it feels different. I’m more aware of what I bring to the table, and I don’t want hesitation to decide for me anymore. It’s time to do the things I used to overthink, speak up, build boldly, and trust that I’ll figure it out along the way.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Habiba Faisal, a software engineer and a human with a passion to build products that create an impact. What makes my work special, I think, is the balance between creativity and purpose. I have worked on hospitality solutions used internationally to mobile apps that simplify how people connect and grow.

Beyond engineering, I care about stories and poetry, the people behind the products, the little details that make something feel thoughtful.

Right now, I’m working on Sail Wellness, an AI nutritionist designed to make personal health effortless and sustainable. It helps people understand their nutrition, build lasting habits, and approach wellness with clarity and balance. Sail combines intelligence, design, and empathy to create a future where living well feels natural.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that I’m ready to release is the one that keeps shrinking, toning myself down to fit into places or around people who can’t hold my full energy. For a long time, I thought being “less” would make things easier or more acceptable, but it only kept me from showing up as I really am.
I don’t want to dim my ideas, my opinions, or my presence just to make others comfortable. It’s time to take up space fully, unapologetically, and with intention.

When did you last change your mind about something important?
I’ve realized it’s okay to lose people. Sometimes it’s the only way to make space for growth, peace, and new connections that fit who you’re becoming.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
I think a lot of smart people are getting it wrong by overcomplicating things, chasing perfection, data, and frameworks while losing touch with intuition and empathy. We’ve built this culture where being “smart” often means being detached or overly analytical, but real impact usually comes from understanding people, not just systems.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I was honest, that I brought passion to the table, made an impact, and stayed true to what I believed in. That working with me felt easy, inspiring, and real.

I want to be remembered as someone who cared, about the work, the people, and the purpose behind it all. Someone who showed up fully, did meaningful things, and left a little spark wherever she went.
