An Inspired Chat with Grace Valenzuela & Alexander Valenzuela of Miami

We recently had the chance to connect with Grace Valenzuela & Alexander Valenzuela and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Grace & Alexander, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
The level of complexity involved in building a swimming pool is often misunderstood.
From the initial planning and engineering to the extensive earthwork required just for the structural foundation, every step demands precision. On top of that, there’s the plumbing and electrical work needed to ensure the pool functions properly and safely. But perhaps the most overlooked aspect is the attention to detail it takes to make every finish look cohesive, high-quality, and aesthetically pleasing.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! My name is Grace Valenzuela, and I’m the co-owner of AGLO Pools, a family-owned pool construction company based in South Florida. We specialize in designing and building custom swimming pools, spas, and outdoor living spaces that bring families together and transform backyards into everyday retreats.

What makes AGLO Pools unique is our hands-on, family-driven approach – my husband Alex oversees construction while I manage operations, design, and client experience. We take pride in delivering not just pools, but complete outdoor environments built with craftsmanship, transparency, and care. Every project is treated like it’s our own home, from the first blueprint to the final water fill.

Right now, we’re focused on growing our brand, expanding our outdoor living services like turf and pavers, and continuing to strengthen relationships with our amazing clients and community. At the heart of everything we do is our belief that your backyard should feel like your favorite place to be.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
Our immigrant parents taught us the most about work.
We grew up watching them give everything they had to build a better life for our family. They worked long days, made countless sacrifices, and never complained – they just kept going. Seeing their determination, their faith, and their strength shaped who we are and how we approach everything we do today.

Their example taught us that hard work isn’t just about effort. It’s about heart, pride, and purpose. They showed us that no task is beneath you and that every opportunity is a privilege. The values they passed down -resilience, humility, and gratitude – are the reason we work the way we do and why we never take what we’ve built for granted.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Alex:
Sometimes it feels like there’s no light at the end of the tunnel -but trust me, there is, and when you get there, it shines bright. Keep pushing forward, even when things feel impossible, because everything you’re going through now is preparing you for the blessings ahead. One quote I love that always reminds me of this is: “You’re living one of your answered prayers.”

Grace:
Things truly do get better -trust the process. Be kind to yourself, work hard, and know that you’re doing a great job, even when it doesn’t feel like it. Everything you’re worrying about will fall into place in its own time. One quote that has always stuck with me is: “This too shall pass.”

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Our closest friends would probably say that what really matters to us is family, integrity, and purpose.
Family is at the heart of everything we do -it’s our motivation and our “why.” They’d also say we care deeply about doing things the right way, not the easy way -whether it’s in business or in life. We value honesty, hard work, and keeping our word.

They’d tell you that we’re passionate about creating something meaningful -building a life and a business that reflect who we are, give back to our community, and set an example for our kids that anything is possible when you lead with heart and perseverance.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
Alex:
I’m doing what I was born to do. I get to provide for my family while creating something that brings joy to others. Building pools isn’t just construction work -it’s about giving families a space to make memories, to relax, and to enjoy life together. Knowing that our work becomes part of someone’s home and happiness is what makes it all worth it.

Grace:
I’m doing more than I ever imagined I would. Being a mother is the most meaningful role I could ever have, and partnering with Alex to run AGLO Pools has been such a rewarding journey. It’s more than a business. It’s something we’ve built together from the ground up, with love, faith, and purpose. I truly believe I’m living exactly where I’m meant to be, and I’m so proud of how far we’ve come.
