Check Out Johanna Godinez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Johanna Godinez.

Hi Johanna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2008 I finished my MBA and had no idea what to do with it. The economy in decline and I couldn’t find opportunities that aligned with a lifelong career. That’s when I found fitness and yoga. I became a personal trainer and started a corporate wellness company in Puerto Rico and started sharing my passion of being healthy and happy. In 2011 I was certified as a yoga teacher and the world of mindfulness and presence became a staple of what we shared. Fast forward to 2017 I was in California developing signature fitness programs for the BAY Clubs, when B.A.Y. Lifestyle was born. Since 2019 this yoga program and ELM coaching method (based on the yoga philosophy) have been the main focus of our offering. Sharing the practice, helping others implement the yoga philosophy, and certifying teachers who understand that yoga is not a mere physical practice, but a lifestyle meant to be practiced on and off the mat. In 2021 we moved the school to our retreat space in Puerto Rico and have been leading 2 and 3 week retreat style trainings for students all over the U.S. and the world.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As all journeys go, there have been struggles along the way. From personal losses to a pandemic, these struggles have helped shape and reshape what B.A.Y. Lifestyle is today. The struggles helped us get clearer on our mission and allowed us the opportunity to think outside the box and create a program that affords individuals tools to elevate the way they think, operate and live their lives.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a Coach and mentor in the wellness space, I am most proud of the accomplishments of those who have gone through our programs and are making a difference in others lives. Yoga is such a beautiful philosophy and the teachings allow us to create a more balanced and peaceful life. I am proud to be able to support our clients and our students as they elevate their lives once they complete their training and go on to building lifestyles or businesses for themselves with integrity and passion at the core. I think what sets us apart is our ability to support not just their yoga practice, but their businesses. Once our students finish their yoga teacher certifications, we are able to mentor them and support them in creating opportunities for themselves that other programs cannot. My background in business allows me the tools to help them integrate their knowledge into their current business or begin a new venture to help them elevate the lives of others and make a living sharing their passion.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I absolutely owe so much of my success to the people that helped me along the way…
Patrick Carney was my mentor is California. Through his mastermind I was able to shape the program we built and be confident with the results it would have for individuals that went through it.
Cory Baehr was also a mentor who helped me navigate through both personal and professional struggles from 2017 to 2020 as we were building the program and adapting to the changes happening in the world at the time.
Last but not least, my father, who has always supported my ventures and offered advice and assistance when needed. He has been my number 1 cheerleader through every project and business I have embarked on during my entire life.
