Meet Astrid Moller of Astrid Moller Nutrition

Today we’d like to introduce you to Astrid Moller.

Astrid, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey began in Venezuela, where I graduated as a Nutritionist and Dietitian from the Central University of Venezuela. After that, I emigrated to the United States, a transition that brought both challenges and growth. Like many immigrants, I first had to master the English language and then figure out how to validate my professional credentials in a completely new country.

To continue pursuing my passion, I completed a Master’s degree in Human Nutrition at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. Afterward, I completed my supervised practice hours, passed the national exam to become a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS), and met all the requirements to obtain my licenses. Today, I’m proud to be a licensed nutritionist in both Florida and Connecticut.

Although it may sound like a simple timeline, the process was anything but easy; it was a long road filled with emotional ups and downs, moments of doubt, and perseverance. Rebuilding a professional career from the ground up in a new country is never simple, but with persistence, dedication, and strong family support, I achieved the goal I had set for myself.

While completing my studies, I always envisioned having my own private practice. Once licensed, I began seeing clients online, which allowed me to stay connected with patients as I moved through different states. Today, I’m proud to have built a practice that primarily operates through telehealth, while also offering in-person consultations at our location in Miami for those who prefer a more personal connection

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the first and biggest challenges was the language barrier. When I first arrived in the United States, I could understand some English, but it was very different to communicate on a professional level or study in a completely new language. Learning to express myself confidently and navigate academic and professional settings in English was a huge milestone.

Another challenge was balancing my studies with motherhood. I started my master’s program while pregnant and continued through the postpartum period, taking classes back-to-back without breaks. It was an incredibly demanding time, but with determination and the unwavering support of my family, I was able to stay on track and complete my degree on time.

Moving between states also made things more complicated, since not every place offered the program I needed. And, of course, the professional validation process in the U.S. can be quite long and bureaucratic; it often takes months or even years, and that waiting period can be frustrating when you’re eager to move forward.

Despite all these challenges, each obstacle taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of perseverance. Looking back, those experiences made the journey even more meaningful.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Astrid Moller Nutrition?
I’m the founder of Astrid Moller Nutrition, a private nutrition practice based in Miami that also serves clients in Florida and Connecticut via telehealth. My mission is to make evidence-based, personalized nutrition care accessible and approachable for everyone, whether they’re managing a medical condition, improving their relationship with food, or simply seeking a healthier lifestyle that feels sustainable.

What truly sets my practice apart is the combination of clinical expertise and empathy. I don’t believe in “one-size-fits-all” approaches or restrictive diets. Instead, I focus on creating individualized nutrition plans that fit into real life, honoring each person’s background, preferences, and emotional relationship with food. My goal is not just to help clients eat better, but to help them feel better, live better, and positively reconnect with food.

I specialize in medical nutrition therapy, working with conditions such as diabetes, hormonal imbalances, weight management, and gastrointestinal health, while also supporting patients undergoing or recovering from medical treatments. My approach is science-based yet human-centered; blending clinical precision with compassion.

Another important milestone for my practice is that Astrid Moller Nutrition is now an insurance-based practice, making nutrition counseling more accessible and affordable for many people. We currently accept major insurance plans and continue expanding our coverage to better serve our community.

What I’m most proud of is seeing how my clients’ lives transform, not just physically, but emotionally. Nutrition is deeply personal, and every success story reminds me why I started this journey.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I’ve learned that every meaningful step in life involves a certain level of risk, especially when it comes to pursuing your passion in a new country. Moving from Venezuela to the United States and rebuilding my career from the ground up was, without question, one of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken. I left behind everything familiar, my language, my network, my comfort zone, to start over in an entirely different system.

At the time, it felt uncertain and even overwhelming, but I’ve come to see risk as another word for growth. Every challenge pushed me to adapt, learn, and discover strengths I didn’t know I had. Opening my own practice, Astrid Moller Nutrition, was another leap of faith. Starting a business, especially in healthcare, requires courage; there’s no guaranteed path. But believing in my vision and in the value of helping others through nutrition made the risk worthwhile.

I don’t necessarily see myself as a “risk-taker” in the traditional sense. I see myself as someone who trusts the process and takes thoughtful, intentional risks when the goal aligns with my purpose. For me, risk isn’t about fear; it’s about faith in what could happen if you don’t let fear stop you.
