Inspiring Conversations with Jessica DREYFUSS of Healing Paws Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica DREYFUSS.

Jessica, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always had a passion for helping animals since I was very young. I graduated with honors from Duke University with a Bachelor of Science and received my Veterinary Degree with honors from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, which ranks #3 in the nation for veterinary schools.

During my Specialty Rotating Internship at Coral Springs Animal Hospital, I became passionate about integrative veterinary medicine – which blends conventional and natural complementary therapies. This passion was ignited by my own dog, Duke. He was diagnosed with cancer – holistic therapies gave him a new lease on life.

I then became a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist through the Chi Institute, and a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute. I started Healing Paws Center in order to offer holistic care to all animals in South Florida.
I continue to take advanced courses in Veterinary Acupuncture, Veterinary rehabilitation, and Oncology.

I served as a member of the 2020 Nominating Committee for the AHVMA (American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association). My 2019 article on “4 Integrative Approaches to Pain” made the cover of Innovative Veterinary Care Journal. I have also performed online expert interviews with companies such as Assisi Animal Health. I served as Chief Veterinary Advisor for Adaptive Health.

I am the founder of the Holistic Veterinary Institute which offers online holistic veterinary medicine courses.

I am also Certified in Food Therapy, and in the use of a therapeutic Class IIIB laser. I am an active member of AAVA (American Association of Veterinary Acupuncture), AARV (American Association of Rehabilitation Veterinarians), and AHVMA (American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association).

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Eight years ago, I received a lot of laughs and disbelief from my colleagues at my plan of treating pets with holistic and/or Eastern medicine.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Healing Paws offers unique care — we call it holistic vet care — for pet owners seeking veterinarians who specialize in pet acupuncture, rehabilitation/physical therapy, nutrition, herbal medicine, and holistic therapies.

Our goal at this pet therapy and rehabilitation center is to take a whole body approach to your pet’s health. Any big plans?
Our biggest goal is to expand our reach in South Florida as well as online via courses.
