Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenton Leslie.
Hi Brenton, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Miami and graduated from Miami Norland Senior High School. After that, I went on to Florida Atlantic University, where I majored in Biological Sciences with the dream of becoming a doctor or at least, that’s what I thought at the time. But after completing my degree, I realized that path didn’t truly align with my passion.
I ended up working at a bank, and what started as just a job turned into the beginning of a new journey. Being in that environment exposed me to the heart of the community. I found myself volunteering often and supporting local organizations, including the Boys & Girls Club. Through that work, I saw firsthand how much these groups needed, from resources to simple things like T-shirts for the kids and events.
That experience lit a spark in me. After five years at the bank, I took a leap of faith and left to start my own business, Urban Pyramid LLC, a T-shirt printing company and brand. My goal was simple: to give back, to support the community, and to eliminate the middleman so local organizations could get high-quality work at affordable prices.
Now, eight years later, Urban Pyramid is still going strong. We’ve grown, we’ve expanded, and we remain deeply rooted in the mission to uplift and support our community. Sponsorships, donations, and collaboration with local causes are still a big part of what we do and we’re just getting started.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I believe the challenges have shaped both me and the business in the best ways. When I left my full-time job at the bank, there was a lot of uncertainty. I walked away from stability and a steady paycheck to pursue something I believed in, but had to build from the ground up. That kind of leap is exciting, but it’s also scary.
I had to learn the printing industry from scratch. Everything from sourcing materials to mastering the equipment, managing orders, and running the business side on my own. There were times I questioned if I made the right decision, especially when things were slow or I faced setbacks. I’ve had to sacrifice a lot of time, energy, and personal comfort to keep the vision alive.
But what kept me going was the mission. Knowing that I wasn’t just building a business, I was creating something that could pour back into the community. Every struggle became a lesson, and every roadblock became a stepping stone. I’m proud of the resilience it took to get through those tough seasons, and even more proud that I never lost sight of the “why” behind it all.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is purpose. I believe that whatever you do in life, whether it’s your career, your business, or your everyday choices, it should be rooted in something bigger than just profit or recognition. For me, it’s about impact. I want to know that what I’m doing is making a difference, especially in the community that raised me.
Giving back, creating opportunities, and helping others feel seen and supported, that’s what drives me. It’s what led me to start Urban Pyramid, and it’s what continues to motivate me every day. When I see a kid smiling in one of our shirts at a community event or hear how a nonprofit saved money because of our services, that’s when I know I’m doing exactly what I’m meant to do.
At the end of the day, success isn’t just about growth. It’s about how many people you uplift along the way.
