Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Hepburn.
Hi Michael, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a native son of Miami and throughout my career, I have worked in both the private and public sectors to make an impact in my community.
I’m the youngest of two siblings, and I am a proud product of Miami Dade County Public Schools. I graduated from Miami Central High School where I played football, baseball, and ran track before earning the prestigious Miami Herald Silver Knight Award and multiple academic scholarships to attend college.
I attended Florida International University, where I also served as the Vice President of the Student Government Association and graduated with my degree in Sports Management.
Right after leaving FIU, I was drafted by the National Football League and served as a Bluechip in their HQ in New York, in addition to working thirteen years in project management roles for multiple Fortune 500 companies, and higher education institutions. I currently serve as a Director in the Sports & Entertainment industry, as a Nonprofit Executive and Political Scientist.
I was raised by a single mother who worked for the Miami Art Museum and as an Early Childhood Education Teacher for more than 20 years. So, I understand the challenges facing our families and the perseverance needed to overcome life’s struggles. I know first-hand that having access to high-quality affordable housing, a culture of innovation, and real leaders who stand up against corruption… Will be fundamental for transforming Miami’s city government and lowering the cost of living for working-class people. That’s why I am running to become the NEXT Mayor of Miami.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Many obstacles along the way due to perceived notions of what someone who looks like me can and cannot do in this world. But GOD has truly blessed me every step of the way and my support system which is centered around my loving Mother, keeps me grounded and focused at the task at hand.

I am equipped with twenty years of professional work experience with EIGHT of those years being in the Sports & Entertainment industry.
For instance, I have served in Executive Team Leader or Management Roles and have Supervised as many as 6,000 Employees at one time. Executed talent acquisition initiatives, guest experience operations, learning & development apparatus and rewards & recognition programs.
I have Co-led cross collaboration initiatives for more than 280 events; assisted 15 Departments with event activation’s, staff scheduling, equipment logistics, and event planning for 1,100+ part-time employees.
I have curated White-Glove Service Delivery by creating SOP’s protocols for concerts, game days & special events staff (i.e. Lost & Found, Designated Driver, Mobile Ordering and Cashless Concessions programs).
I have also executed logistical operations and guest & employee experience duties for Super Bowl XLI, Super Bowl XLVI, Capital One Orange Bowl, NBA Finals 2023, and more than 150 Performing Artist Concerts.
