Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvethe Blackmore.
Hi Yvethe, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve spent the last 15 years working for Fortune 100 companies, based out of Miami, FL. At a young age, I was given the opportunity to attend a local magnet school (Coral Reef High School) with a specialized program in Marketing and continued my Education in MDC and FIU in this area. I was able to learn from so many inspiring mentors based in this community – all growing their careers and passionate about their craft. Over a year ago, I took the leap and started a marketing consultancy, mostly serving as a Fractional Marketing Strategist and providing businesses with a personalized and a collaborative approach to marketing, especially with tech gaining so much momentum.
Blackmore Consulting primarily provides marketing strategy and execution through growth marketing plans. It’s been important to me to work with purpose-driven organizations which is why I’ve placed focus on Education, Non-Profits, Insurance companies and also, Startups looking to gain growth and momentum. I believe you can and should take your natural gifts to serve in your community which is why I also serve on a Business & Education committee within the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce where we work on bridging the gap between business and public schools to provide much needed services.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I put in a lot of hard work for 15 years and even, during my college years. I started as a marketing assistant and worked random jobs before then. Tasks in these jobs included getting coffee, making copies, and filing documents. I’ve always been very gritty and determined, and kept focus on my goals and also – put a lot of focus on growing my skills and having fun doing what I loved – marketing. This allowed me to continue to grow. When I launched my consultancy, I had a a lot of support because of my track record. And connections within the industry. It was certainly a pivot to let go of what I knew for so long, standing up a business, and having it all fall on you. Additionally, letting go of the corporate culture and transitioning to entrepreneurship was a learning curve. I’d definitely say the struggles in my career were earlier on when I was navigating corporate culture dynamics – but it’s allowed me to build something taking the best of what I’ve learned and also, with a strong focus on marketing fundamentals.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Blackmore Consulting ?
Blackmore consulting provides personalized marketing strategies for companies through a collaborative approach. As a fractional marketing strategist, (which means – you don’t have to hire a full-time Marketing Director/Strategist) I work with companies to solve problems, strengthen their team’s skills, assess current initiatives, and build a strategy and plan.
Oftentimes companies are under resourced with time and staff, and this impacts their strategy or longer-term goals and may bottleneck their potential. Sometimes they’re aware of they’re growth potential with just a few changes to their strategy, and sometimes not. This is where I come in to support. With my experience, I can offer perspective, direction, and also – creativity.
I have two main services which are a fractional marketing strategist (preferred by medium to large organizations) and marketing strategy and execution which is fit more for startups and small businesses. I’d say I’m known for providing strategy, plan, and creativity in execution. Regarding what separates me from other agencies or consultancies, I would say there is so much great talent out there and it really depends on what you’re looking for and what is a fit for your culture and brand. My services are centered around getting the core of issues and building marketing strategy and plans that drive growth.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Marketing overall is going through a shakeup right now. We are inundated with tools, tech, social and digital marketing, and AI is playing a major role in fatigue, noise, and even creating some confusion. AI in marketing will only be as strong as marketers and companies choose to implement them. And for that, you need really great tech products and training. But also fundamental skills and understanding of core marketing will become stronger than ever. It will be more important for brands and companies to find and build strong authentic communities while also understanding nuance and having strong taste. You’re also getting a generation entering the workforce that is incredibly tech-savvy, strongly embraces AI and is interested in addressing important issues. Additionally, we’re living a climate where consumers are almost serving as key decision drivers, almost as if they’re working in the organization. All of these things will shift marketing. But I do believe you’ll need a strong understanding of marketing principles going forward.
