An Inspired Chat with Shanele Lundahl of Palm Beach County

We recently had the chance to connect with Shanele Lundahl and have shared our conversation below.

Shanele, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
Wandering. I realized long ago that the path I wanted to walk in life, looks a lot different than most. That I needed to step out of the fast lane of life and step onto a much calmer, old forgotten road. One that is not necessarily easier, but brings more depth and joy out of life for me. Learning when to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life. So that I can remain present and most of all, kind.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Shanele Lundahl and I am a house call chiropractor. With both a doctorates in chiropractic and masters in sports science & rehab, I’ve focused my practice on the prenatal & postpartum needs of mothers. Over the years I’ve combined my numerous soft tissue techniques and education based in sports performance to create a tailored treatment & rehab programming for women during and after pregnancy. I’ve loved being able to cater my practice to women. Give back to a community that I feel has been long neglected in the medical world.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The overworking, stressed, and very anxious people pleaser. All of these qualities served me very well in focusing on my education, first entering the work field, and building of my practice. Once I felt that I was on the path I wanted for life and my career, I realized that I needed to begin releasing these qualities because they were only bringing me down or holding me back. First I began to build boundaries around simple things. Such as sticking to having a weekend off like I promised myself, instead of saying yes to something because I felt bad for saying no. Then I worked on being comfortable with saying no and not over explaining when I did. Slowly I started to feel like I had the space to relax and recover.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You’re doing amazing. I wish I could hug you. All that doubt and worry, will seem silly at one point to you. Trust in yourself.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
Real scientific literature. Listening to the true experts and scientists when they present their findings to the scientific & medical community. Not all research is considered equal, there’s a hierarchy. You also need to know how to read these research articles & digest the information they’re telling you. If there is a true foundational shift in the findings, more and more research studies are going to be able to see the same results. Therefore giving more and more credit to the new information discovered.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
When I am in the mountains. I grew up in Wyoming, surrounded by mountains. Something about them makes me feel deeply grounded and at peace. Reminds me that there is power & strength in stillness. I am definitely not a city girl at heart.
