Life & Work with Bethany Beathard of Hinesville, Georgia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bethany Beathard.

Hi Bethany , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was raised a county girl in rural Oklahoma with a “barefoot” childhood on 55 acres.
Where our family culture instilled a passion for the outdoors, but my journey as content creator, writer and advocate for hunting, conservation, and family traditions began as a way to share that passion with others. Over the years, I’ve combined my experience as a military spouse, homeschool mom, and avid hunter to build a platform where I can tell my story about the outdoor lifestyle.
I started by simply documenting my own experiences and quickly realized there was a need and interest for more voices, especially women’s voices, in the hunting and conservation space. In a series of events. That led to the start of writing for publications like Huntinglife, Field & Stream, Hook & Barrel, NWTF and partnering with brands.

Today, I manage multiple projects including freelance writing, podcasting for DU Ascend, and supporting nonprofit initiatives that introduce minorities, women, youth, and families to hunting and the outdoors. My goal continues to be the same, let protect this way of life through helping others discover self-sufficiency, stewardship, and the joy that comes from hunting, fishing and conservation.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a smooth road — it’s definitely been a lot of hard work. There are countless volunteer hours poured into supporting nonprofits, endless late nights writing articles, testing products, and creating content. And of course, there’s the time actually spent in the woods hunting, which is both work and passion.

Balancing all of that while being a homemaker, homeschooling mom of five, and military wife hasn’t always been easy. But every challenge has taught me something valuable about perseverance, purpose, and staying true to what I love. The hard work makes the journey even more meaningful.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a freelance outdoor writer, content creator, and podcast host who focuses on hunting, conservation, and family traditions. My work includes feature stories, product reviews, and educational pieces. Additionally, I partner with brands promoting products I love.

Outside the outdoor industry, I work professionally as a social media specialist, helping to build strategy-driven content and connect authentically with their audiences.
What I’m most proud of is helping others, especially women and youth, find confidence and purpose in the outdoors. As a military spouse and homeschooling mom of five, I bring a real-world perspective that blends family, service, and a love for wildlife.
What sets me apart is my hands-on experience and genuine storytelling approach. Whether I’m writing, creating content, or working in the field, I strive to educate and inspire through authenticity and relatablity from everyday life.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
First, I define success by knowing that something I’ve done has helped someone else along their journey—whether that’s inspiring them to try hunting for the first time, connect with nature, or simply feel encouraged to keep going.

Second, success is seeing my kids develop a genuine passion for the outdoors and carry on our hunting heritage. The next generation is key to protecting this way of life—through conservation, responsible stewardship, and by voting to preserve the opportunities we have today. If I can raise them to value and protect that, then I’ve done something truly meaningful.
