Today we’d like to introduce you to Gennileidi Neyra.
Hi Gennileidi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I never realized how many hats I’d wear- wife, mom, and now small business owner. Some days it feels like Im juggling a million things: cooking dinner while answering emails, folding laundry with a baby on my hip, and sneaking in late nights to work on my dream. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it.
I love what I do because it’s mine. It’s a piece of me outside of being “mom” or “wife.” It reminds me that I can nurture my family and my dreams. Watching my kids see me chase something I love that’s the sweetest part of all.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a stay at home mom of a small child who needed my undevited attention hasn’t been easy, making it the biggest challenge for me at first. Learning to juggle my home and my small business.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am known for my delicious home made flans and tres leches cake.
I am most proud of how far I’ve come even with all the challenges I faced at first. Doubting myself was part of why i didn’t start building my dream earlier, but i can say now, “i am most confident in my work and my ability to create something so delicious catering to every pallet”.
Offering gluten free options to make sure everyone can enjoy a piece of heaven.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Having a 16 year career with a big company and having to leave for personal reasons was not easy for me. After my baby was born i decided I wasn’t going back to work but instead I was going to work on what made me the happiest which was baking, and the satisfaction I get from seeing and hearing my customers enjoy my bakes and coming back for now makes it all worth it.
