Life & Work with Randie Ervin of Coral Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Randie Ervin.

Hi Randie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my Florida notary commission in 1999 and only used it as a community give back so I didn’t charge for it. Fast forward to July 2024. I was part of a major layoff at an HR payroll company that I had worked at for nearly 10 years and didn’t know what I was gonna do. I am older so I thought it would be hard for me to start over with schooling and I had a rough time getting interviews. I remember seeing on social media posts about notary and that is when it clicked. I can use this as a business because I didn’t just want a job that I would need to answer to anyone. I wanted to be my own boss. One thing led to another and after all my research I found there are many other things I can do with the notary commission. So in January of 2025 I started RME Billing Services and started doing medical billing for a family and her business and then I added a DBA for RME Notary Services. I have since become NNA and LSS certified as a Loan Signing Agent, Ordained wedding officiant, and field inspections. I have completed two weddings and one being a jail wedding, many loan signings and field inspections. I love meeting and talking to people and serving the community with the services I provide.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a business is not easy and there are a lot of detours along the way. Once I became certified I had the hurdle of getting loan signing jobs with the little experience I have but I have learned that I need to put myself out there physically to show the people who I am and what I stand for. Just recently I attended a seminar with a signing service and I learned about fear. Fear drives such a negative feeling and I believe that struggle is real.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a mobile notary so I go to people’s houses to notarize closing documents, estate plannings, general notary work, POA’s etc. I don’t necessary specialize in just one aspect. I will do it all. I am known for being the mobile notary lady, lol. That is what people call me when I come to their house. What I am most proud of is the fact that I am a talker so I can communicate well with people and I think I have good judgment when it comes to reading people. I think what sets me apart is understanding what the client needs and listening to what they are saying. Being able to be comfortable having conversations is a must which will then establish a great relationship.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Just to do your research and know everything there is to know. Find out what drives you and you love to do because that makes all the difference. It takes a lot of hard work every day even if I have a day where I am not feeling the best, I still go out there and give it my best.
