Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerleen Norey.
Hi Jerleen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got my degree in Early Childhood and I also loved to dance and wanted to put both things together so I started traveling to preschools around south Florida to offer dance classes. My clients grew to over 80 students. But there was a disconnect once the students graduated from pre-k. So I made the decision to open a store front in order for students to continue taking dance and we have been a studio ever since.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A few of the obstacles was aquiring a studio space and getting the approval from the city. Transitioning parents to driving them to a central location instead of me going to their child’s school. Building a trustworthy staff.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the artistic director, and owner of simply inspired dance and I also manage Plantation Christian Preschool. Both comes for my love for children and the desire to give them a safe and fun place to learn and grow whether i education and /or dance. I’m most proud of the impact I have been able to make in the lives of soooo many children and their families. That is my ultimate goal. That every child that as they grow will have fond memories of their childhood experiences from either the preschool or the dance studio. Hopefully this will in turn make them grow up to be amazing adults.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is when i was in pre-k. My teacher doted on me all the time, treated me special and gave me fond experiences from my time in her class. I clearly remember her taking me out to lunch during her lunch break. I honestly don’t know how she was allowed to do that but i guess it was a different time back then. I believe that experience and the impact it made on me is the reason I have such a love for early childhood education and how we can be such a blessing to children of today.
