Story & Lesson Highlights with Alejandra Dorado of doral

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Alejandra Dorado. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Alejandra, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Honestly, no two days look exactly the same — and I love it that way! Lately, my days feel like a bit of an adventure. I juggle everything from marketing strategy and running social media, to filming content, designing and printing projects, meeting new clients, and even jumping in to help with installations when needed. Some days can get pretty intense and a little chaotic, but at the end of the day, it’s all part of the journey — and I’m genuinely happy to be on this path, building something I’m passionate about.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Alejandra, a Colombian graphic designer who has been happily calling Miami home for the past 11 years. About five years ago, I took the leap and started my own business — something I built alongside my dad — and it’s been nothing short of an adventure. Looking back at how far we’ve come fills me with pride: today we work with recurring clients, keep growing every month, and handle everything from small digital designs to large-scale prints you can spot in restaurants and vans all over the city.

Between my life as a designer and my passion for motorcycles, no two days ever look the same — which keeps me excited and inspired. The road hasn’t always been easy, but it has definitely been spectacular.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
Without a doubt, my dad has been the person who’s shaped me the most. He’s my inspiration and the one who has always had my back. He challenges me constantly — sometimes more than I’d like! — but that’s because he knows I can always give a little more than I think I can. His high expectations have pushed me to grow, to dream bigger, and to build a life and a business that I’m proud of, always surrounded by the people I love.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely. There have been many moments where fear got the best of me and I felt like I couldn’t keep going. There were even times when I stepped away from my business for months to work in “safer,” more traditional jobs. But somehow, I always find my way back — because this is where I grow the most and where I feel most alive. I’ve learned that fear and hard moments are just part of the process, and they’re often what push us to level up and discover what we’re really capable of.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes — I’d say what you see is truly who I am. Thanks to my family, I’ve learned to keep my inner child alive, protect my heart, and surround myself with people who lift me up. For a long time, I was afraid to show my true self or speak my mind in certain situations. But that version of me is long gone.

Now I embrace every part of myself — the happy, the sad, the stressed, and even the grumpy moments — because they’re all part of my process. I know life will have hard days and amazing ones, and I’ve learned to show up as my authentic self through all of them.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
What would remain are the moments and the memories — the real treasures of life. What matters most to me, and what I hope to look back on when I’m older, is knowing that I lived life to the fullest. I traveled, I dreamed big, I grew, I learned, I won races, I fell down, and I got back up. I want to have a thousand stories to tell my grandkids one day — stories full of laughter, lessons, and a little bit of mud from all the adventures along the way.
