Inspiring Conversations with Douglas Blake of The Blake Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Douglas Blake.

Hi Douglas, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began my career in the insurance industry 15 years ago with a simple goal: to master the fundamentals and build a system that could scale. In the early days, it meant long hours, countless phone calls, and more rejection than most people would endure. But by staying focused, refining my process, and committing to duplication, I was able to build something far greater than just personal success.
Today, as Regional Vice President with Senior Life Insurance Company, I lead the largest agency in the company. Our team issues over 4,000 new policies every month and is on track to produce more than $30 million in new business this year. That level of growth didn’t happen by accident—it’s the result of having a proven system that agents can plug into, follow with consistency, and use to build a thriving career.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the impact this has had on others. Through mentorship, leadership, and a culture of accountability, I’ve helped create countless six-figure earners and even a few million-dollar earners. Watching people step into their potential, achieve financial independence, and change their family’s future has been more rewarding than any personal milestone.
Our mission remains simple: help families with the protection they need, create opportunities for agents nationwide, and continue building one of the most dominant agencies in the industry. For me, success has always been about more than numbers—it’s about multiplying success in others and proving that with the right mindset, system, and leadership, extraordinary results are possible.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like most entrepreneurs, I faced more rejection than I ever imagined at the beginning. There were weeks where I questioned whether the sacrifice was worth it. I had to learn how to manage inconsistent income, invest back into leads, and push through the fear of failure when nothing seemed to be working.
Scaling a large organization came with its own set of challenges—recruiting the right people, building a system that others could duplicate, and holding myself and my leaders accountable at a high level. There were moments when growth outpaced structure, and that forced me to adapt quickly and put the right processes in place.
The struggles taught me resilience. They also forced me to become a better leader—someone who not only produces at a high level personally, but also develops others to do the same. Without those struggles, I don’t believe we’d be where we are today: issuing thousands of policies a month and helping agents across the country build real financial freedom.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Senior Life Insurance Company is a final expense life insurance company, and my agency is the largest within the organization. We specialize in helping families plan for one of the most important and inevitable moments in life—covering funeral and end-of-life expenses so loved ones aren’t left with a financial burden. Every month, our team issues over 4,000 new policies, and we’re on track to surpass $30 million in new business this year.
What sets us apart is our system. We provide agents with everything they need to succeed—leads, training, mentorship, and a duplicatable model that’s been proven nationwide. Instead of leaving people to “figure it out,” we’ve built a culture of accountability and support. That’s why I’ve been able to help create countless six-figure earners and even a few million-dollar earners. We don’t just sell policies—we build careers.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that we’re known for growth, leadership, and results. Our agency is recognized as a place where ambitious people can come in, plug into the system, and change the trajectory of their lives. We’re not just building sales numbers—we’re building leaders, and we’re building legacies.
For readers, I’d want them to know this: we are in the business of impact. Every policy protects a family. Every new agent creates opportunity. And every leader we develop multiplies that impact even further. That’s what our brand stands for—and that’s why we’ve become one of the most dominant agencies in the insurance industry.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest regret when I was starting out is that I didn’t think big enough early enough. I was focused on just getting by, paying bills, and trying to survive, when in reality, the opportunity in front of me was much bigger. It took me time to realize that the same effort it takes to build something small can also be used to build something massive.
If I had shifted my mindset sooner, I could have scaled faster and helped even more people along the way. That’s why my advice to anyone just starting out is this: don’t limit your vision. Think bigger from day one.
Master the basics, stay consistent, and trust the system, but pair that with a mindset that refuses to settle for average. If you do, this business can change not only your life, but the lives of countless others you impact along the way.
