Story & Lesson Highlights with yvana romelus

We’re looking forward to introducing you to yvana romelus. Check out our conversation below.

Hi yvana, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
When I dance, I lose all sense of time. The music takes over, my body flows, and suddenly minutes feel like seconds. Every step, turn, and rhythm pulls me deeper into the moment until everything else fades away. It’s more than movement—it’s where I find myself again. Dance lets me reconnect with who I am at my core, reminding me of my strength, my culture, and my joy. It’s my escape, my therapy, and my way back home to myself.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Yvana Romelus, also known online as Thee Mademoiselle. I’m a multidisciplinary creative, entrepreneur, and dance educator who has built a platform around storytelling, cultural pride, and uplifting Black youth. Through my brand Thee Mademoiselle LLC, I run multiple YouTube channels where I share commentary, Haitian culture, and motivational content, all with the goal of sparking real conversations and building community.

I also founded Media Hustle, a consulting agency and membership platform that helps creators and entrepreneurs grow their brands, and I’m currently developing Lakayro, a nonprofit focused on cultural dance education for underprivileged youth and adults. What makes my work unique is how I merge creativity, culture, and community impact—I don’t just create content or teach dance, I create opportunities for people to find their voice, embrace their identity, and build a future.

Right now, I’m working on expanding my nonprofit, growing my membership community, and continuing to use my platforms to inspire and educate. My journey has been about turning passion into purpose, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was always a Creative. Unfortunately, I let people put me into restrictive roles and dumb down my dreams and aspirations but I have always stayed in a creative lane.

When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
When I was sad or scared as a child, music was always my safe place. I could put on a song and instantly feel comforted, like the melodies were wrapping around me and reminding me I wasn’t alone. Whether it was dancing around to something upbeat or just lying still and letting the lyrics sink in, music gave me a way to process my feelings when I didn’t have the words. It helped me feel grounded, connected, and strong enough to get through whatever I was facing.

Do you want me to make this more personal/storytelling (like mentioning specific artists or songs you loved), or keep it general and relatable like this?

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
For me, the public version of myself is very much the real me. I’ve always been straightforward, raw, and unafraid to say what others might only think. That honesty is exactly what people either love or hate about me—and I’m okay with that. I’d rather be real and stand firm in who I am than water myself down to make others comfortable. At the end of the day, my authenticity is what connects me to people, and it’s also what sets me apart.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
Speaking my mind no matter the circumstances, standing up for others and what’s right regardless of personal opinions and backlash.
