An Inspired Chat with Kiki Sanchez of Miami

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kiki Sanchez. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Kiki, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity is important to me because it is the essence of who we are. It represents our character, trust, and beliefs. I believe that intelligence and energy can be manipulated by negative or positive integrity. Furthermore, Socrates viewed integrity as an internal quality that was created from true knowledge and commitment to positive human values and moral principles.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Kiki Sanchez Latin Jazz Ensemble. Among the new generation of young Peruvian Jazz musicians that are emerging on the national jazz scene is pianist Kiki Sanchez. Born in Lima Peru, Sanchez began playing piano at age 11. Later he moved to Miami, Florida, where he continued studying piano as well as cultivating a deep love for American Jazz.

Sanchez’s musical interpretation is resounding, leaving the listener with admiration and much anticipation for greater things to come from a musician of such high caliber.

Sanchez has also produced an instructional DVD called “The Real Latin Piano and the introduction to Afro-Peruvian Rhythms”; in it you’ll find essential musical knowledge that accentuates the building blocks of Latin music, as well as offering a fresh introspective view on various Afro-Peruvian rhythms as applied to Jazz.

With all these great musical things happening in Kiki’s life, it is no doubt that greater things are still to come for this young inspiring jazz musician. Kiki’s recent release, “Two Worlds” has been well-received, as have his three prior CD’s.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents did. Both are still active in their live journeys; they are a blessing and inspiration to me. It was wonderful to experience my parents as providers during my childhood. That was the moment when I realized and learned the importance of work. Moreover, I had the honor to work for Wayne Cochran (Singer & Pastor), I worked for him as a music director from 2000 thru 2004. This was such an enriching opportunity to learn about the show business and spiritual aspect of music. That experience put my personal live and work motive in the right direction. I believe work is a wonderful thing. it’s an experience that contributes to personal growth, social connection, and overall life satisfaction.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Pray, read, and memorized Bible verses. I believe The Bible offers a wide range of benefits, touching on spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and even practical aspects of life.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire Abraham Lincoln because his actions reveal his character, for instance; he maintained the United States as a single nation during Civil War. He issued the Emancipation Proclamation and promoted equality; Lincoln was recognized for his unwavering integrity. Finally, he wrote the Thirteenth Amendment that officially abolished slavery.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I was doing what I wanted to do, nevertheless; in the last 6 years I have been on the process to realign my subconscious and thinking process with Bible verses and teachings to find what I was born to do or created for. I believe that every human has a purpose in this wonderful journey that is call life; however, is our personal responsibility to find it. Nowadays I can tell that I am doing what I was born to do.
