Kimisha King on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Kimisha King shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Kimisha, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I am very intentional about walking a path, not wandering. For me, life is about alignment, aligning with God’s purpose and the vision He has placed within me. Wandering implies aimlessness, but when you know who you are and whose you are, you don’t just drift. I’ve faced seasons where the path wasn’t always clear, but even then, I trusted that God was ordering my steps. Today, I walk with clarity, with a sense of destiny, and with the understanding that every step I take is preparing me and others for greater impact. So, I’m not wandering, I’m advancing on a purposeful path.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Kimisha King, and I am the Founder and CEO of Queensmindset Empowerment Inc. Our mission is to help women and youth birth their purpose through professional, spiritual, and emotional development. What makes Queensmindset unique is that it isn’t just a brand; it’s a movement. We focus on transformation, equipping individuals to reimagine their reality, rediscover their identity, and walk boldly in their calling.

My own journey of overcoming challenges has shaped the heart of my work, and that’s why I am so passionate about creating spaces where others can rise and thrive. Over the years, I’ve been honored to see our work recognized internationally, but what matters most to me is the impact on everyday lives.

Right now, we’re excited to be building a membership program under Queensmindset Empowerment Inc. This will give women exclusive access to mentorship, training resources, workshops, and a supportive community where they can grow both personally and professionally. It’s about creating a network of empowered women who uplift each other while walking in purpose.

At the core of everything I do is a simple but powerful mission: to empower people to live with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed that in order to move to the next phase in life, someone had to help me or even save me. I thought my progress depended on the approval, support, or intervention of others. But as I grew and matured, I realized that while guidance and mentorship are valuable, true breakthrough comes from within, through faith, resilience, and taking ownership of your own journey. Today, I know that God has already placed everything I need inside of me, and the right people will align along the way, but I am not waiting to be saved. I am walking empowered, creating pathways, and helping others see that they, too, carry what it takes to rise.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely. When I first started Queensmindset, I reached out to another woman in the same field of women’s empowerment to collaborate. Instead of support, I was met with rejection; she questioned my vision and even whether I was ready. That experience deeply impacted my self-esteem. I began to doubt my worth and slowly closed the door on the vision God had placed in me.

But a year later, God spoke to me clearly and reignited that fire. I chose to rise again, and I haven’t looked back since. Today, almost a decade later, Queensmindset has been able to impact the lives of over 10,000 women globally. What once felt like the end was really the beginning of something greater than I imagined.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
I rely most on God’s ideas above all else, because His wisdom grounds everything I do. Beyond that, I lean on the insights of mentors, thought leaders, and the women within my community. I believe in the power of collective wisdom, sometimes the most transformative ideas don’t come from the stage or the boardroom, but from the lived experiences of women who are navigating real challenges every day. Their perspectives sharpen me, keep me grounded, and ensure that Queensmindset remains relevant and impactful.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think what people may most misunderstand about my legacy is that it was never about me building a brand for myself, it was about building pathways for others. From the outside, people may see the accolades, platforms, and recognition, but at the core of Queensmindset and my life’s work is service. My legacy is not about titles or visibility; it’s about how many women and young people were able to rise, walk in purpose, and transform their lives because they encountered the work God called me to do. If someone misinterprets that, I hope history will still show the fruit of lives changed rather than just a name remembered.
