Today we’d like to introduce you to Joisse Cordeiro.
Hi Joisse, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story really begins with my father. When he came to the United States from Brazil in the early 2000s, he started his own air-conditioning company. At first, I was just helping him on the administrative side of the business — handling paperwork, answering phones, and supporting him however I could.
Over time, I became more involved and eventually stepped into a partnership role with him. That experience opened my eyes to a world I didn’t expect to fall in love with: construction and customer service. There’s something incredibly rewarding about building and creating, but what moves me most is the connection with people. I’ve always had a heart for serving others, and in this industry I found the perfect balance of working with my hands, solving challenges, and building relationships every single day.
In 2019, after years of learning and growing alongside my father, I made the decision to sell my partnership and step out on my own. That was the start of Advanced AC — a woman-owned HVAC company built with the mission of providing not only quality work, but also trust, dedication, and a commitment to making people’s lives better. I left the partnership with my father because we were no longer on the same page and had different visions for the business. That difference started creating division—not just within the company, but also within the family. And I truly believe in the union of things; when there’s division, there’s always a crack.
I came to a point where I had to make a choice: either continue mixing business with family and risk my relationship with my father, or separate the two and protect what truly mattered. My family is very close, and I knew I didn’t want to jeopardize that bond.
So, I chose to step away. After leaving the company, I gave myself two years before starting Advanced AC. It was an intentional pause to reflect, grow, and prepare myself for the kind of business I truly wanted to build. When I finally launched Advanced AC, it was with clarity, passion, and purpose—and with my father’s full support and pride in the decision.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not — but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Life itself isn’t a smooth road, and starting a business definitely isn’t either. When I stepped out on my own in 2019, I didn’t have an office, a team, or even an estimator by my side. It was just me in my little home office, wearing every hat you can imagine — estimator, accountant, administrator, project manager, operations manager — all while still being a mom, a grandmother, and making time to take care of myself. Many nights I’d work until 4:30 in the morning, grab just a few hours of sleep, wake up, get my kids ready, and start all over again.
At first, I honestly thought I couldn’t do it without my father and former business partners. For so long I believed I needed them to succeed. But when I went solo, I realized something powerful — everything I needed was already inside me. All of the skills, the discipline, the determination, the passion for serving people — it was all there, just waiting for me to believe in it. Starting my business alone gave me no choice but to rise, and in that process I discovered a strength and capacity within myself that I didn’t even know existed.
In fact, in the first six months of running the business from my home office, Advanced AC generated half a million dollars in revenue. That was a turning point for me. It showed me that what I had in my hands was bigger than I imagined. It was exciting but also a little scary because I wasn’t expecting that level of growth so quickly. It pushed me to start making changes — hiring people, building a stronger team, and creating a more established foundation for the business. That challenge was the beginning of real growth.
So no, it hasn’t been smooth. But it’s been incredibly rewarding. Every challenge taught me something new. Every late night built a stronger foundation. And every obstacle showed me that the breakdowns are really just the beginning of breakthroughs. If anything, my journey is proof that even when you feel like you’re not ready or you don’t have all the resources, if you trust your vision, stay disciplined, and keep your heart in the right place, you’ll surprise yourself with how far you can go.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Honestly, what I do is pretty simple — we do air conditioning, and we do it for just about everyone. Homeowners, businesses, property managers, HOAs, hotels, restaurants, even big multi-family projects and hospitals. Whether it’s a new construction, a remodel, replacing an old unit, cleaning drains and filters, or building out a whole system from scratch — we handle the entire HVAC scope of work. We can work with any brand, and even set up automation if that’s what you need.
What I really love — and what people know us for — is how present and responsive we are. If someone calls me on a Sunday afternoon, I pick up, because I know no one is calling their AC company on a Sunday unless it’s urgent. And when we take on a project — whether it’s a single-family home or a huge commercial build — we ride with our clients all the way to the finish line. Every project has its challenges, but we stay until the job is done and delivered with excellence.
What makes us different is that for me, it’s never just about the system or the building — it’s about the people inside. The families with little kids who need to stay cool, the employees who deserve a comfortable place to work, or the seniors in an assisted living facility who need a safe environment. We show up for them, every time.
We are also proud to be a woman-owned business and hold Small Business Enterprise (SBE) certifications with Broward County and the School District of Palm Beach. For our clients, that means more than just checking a box — it means access to diversity credits, eligibility for certain tax benefits, and stronger positioning on projects that require or encourage participation from certified woman-owned and small businesses. In other words, when you partner with us, you’re not only getting a responsive, reliable HVAC team — you’re also gaining a competitive advantage.
On a personal note, I’m incredibly proud of being a mom and now a grandmother to two beautiful grandkids. Family means everything to me, and that’s why I treat every client like family too. I’m also proud of my own journey — especially over the past few years. I went through some really tough times and had to rebuild from the ground up. I didn’t let circumstances define me, and instead of giving up, I leaned on my faith, trusted God’s grace, and found the strength to keep going. That resilience, and the ability to create something meaningful with an amazing team and incredible partners, is what I hold closest to my heart.
At the end of the day, what sets me apart is simple: I care. I care about people, about their comfort, and about delivering solutions that truly make a difference in their homes and businesses. For me, it goes beyond the transactional — it’s about people, about building relationships, and about earning trust..
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
That’s such a good question, but honestly, it’s a little hard for me to answer because I’ve always been a happy person at heart. Even during some of the hardest moments in my life, I’ve always had this inner joy that pushes me to look forward instead of backward. I think for me, happiness comes from choosing to focus on what can be, not just on what was or what is. I like to ask myself, “Okay, this is tough — but what do I want my life to look like on the other side of this?” And that shift in perspective really helps me carry things in a lighter way, instead of letting life feel too heavy.
A huge part of my happiness also comes from my faith. My connection with God and really knowing who He is in my life has given me so much peace. It’s like having this strong backbone that keeps me standing when everything else feels shaky. I honestly don’t think I’d be where I am today without His grace.
And of course — my kids. My daughter and my son are my world, and now being a grandmother to two beautiful grandkids just fills me with so much joy. They were my strength through some of the toughest seasons of my life, and seeing the kind of amazing, kind-hearted humans they’ve become makes me so proud.
At the end of the day, what makes me happiest is knowing that no matter what chaos or challenges I’ve faced, I’ve been able to build a good life out of it all. My family makes me happy. My work makes me happy. Waking up every day and getting another chance to live, grow, and love — that makes me happy.
