Story & Lesson Highlights with Dana Brillante of West Palm Beach

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Dana Brillante. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Dana, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Who are you learning from right now?
Right now, I’m learning from the life I’m living—both personally and professionally. As a mom of two boys and a soon-to-be wife, I’m constantly evolving and gaining perspective from the people closest to me. My sons teach me patience, resilience, and how to find humor in everyday chaos. Being engaged has opened my eyes to the importance of partnership, communication, and building a blended life with intention.

On the professional side, I’m learning from other women in the lifestyle and creator space—those who are building authentic brands while balancing real life. Through my platform @modernmomlounge, I’ve connected with a community of women who inspire me daily with their stories, creativity, and support. I believe in learning from every season of life and showing up honestly—because that’s where the real growth happens.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Dana Brillante, a lifestyle influencer, content creator, and working mom of two adult ish boys. I run Modern Mom Lounge, a digital space where I share real-life moments, smart shortcuts, and inspiration for women who want to live fully, stress less, and still keep it stylish.

What makes my brand unique is that it’s rooted in authenticity—I’ve built it around the idea that you can be both a nurturing mom and an ambitious woman, that you can chase your goals without losing yourself in the process. Whether I’m testing out a new wellness trend, reviewing a must-try product, or sharing the highs and lows of blending families and planning a wedding, I show up as my whole self.

Right now, I’m focused on deepening my connection with my audience, creating content that truly resonates with busy women over 40, and exploring partnerships that align with my mission: to help others find joy, balance, and confidence in everyday life.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
One of the most influential people in my professional life was my former boss and mentor, Candy Sharpsteen, during my time at D.R. Horton. Candy didn’t just teach me about the homebuilding industry—she shaped the way I approach work, leadership, and life. Her mentorship gave me a deep understanding of marketing strategy, brand storytelling, and how to navigate challenges with both confidence and grace. She led by example, always encouraging growth, collaboration, and integrity. So much of who I am as a professional—and how I mentor others now—was shaped by the lessons I learned from her.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
One of the most defining wounds in my life was navigating divorce while raising two boys. It was a season of deep uncertainty, guilt, and having to rediscover who I was outside of the life I had built. The healing didn’t happen overnight—it came in layers, through therapy, time, grace, and learning to ask for help.

My boys were (and still are) my biggest motivation. I wanted to show them that strength isn’t about pretending you’re okay—it’s about doing the work to become okay. That experience pushed me to create a life rooted in purpose, presence, and honesty, and it deeply influences the content I create today.

Now, as I step into a new chapter—engaged and blending a family—I’m proud of the resilience that came from that wound. It made me softer, stronger, and more intentional in everything I do.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely—but like most people, it’s a curated version. What you see online is authentically me, but it’s the part of me that’s dressed up a bit, organized in carousels, and filtered through intention. I share my life as a working mom, a fiancée, and a woman navigating midlife with humor, hustle, and heart. The public version of me reflects my values: connection, honesty, and celebrating the everyday. But the full me? That includes the behind-the-scenes moments too—messy, real, and beautifully imperfect. And honestly, I think that balance is what makes my content relatable and my community strong.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What will you regret not doing?
Hopefully nothing!
