Nikima Johnson shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Nikima, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Self care, and being able to enjoy every minute I have with myself especially with being a full time mom/ entrepreneur it’s important that I take time to take care of my mental health and physical health
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! Everyone my name is Nikima, and I am a certified lash technician and makeup artist, and the face behind Houseuvbeauti. I specialize in enhancing natural beauty and creating flawless makeup looks tailored to each client’s unique features and style. What makes my brand special is the personal experience I aim to give every client. Whether it’s a soft glam for a special event or a full set of lashes that boosts confidence every day, I focus on quality, good customer service, comfort, and helping people feel like their best selves. My journey started with a love for beauty and creativity, And it’s grown into a space where I get to connect with amazing people and be part of their special moments. Right now, I’m working on expanding my services, growing my brand, and continuing to learn new techniques to stay ahead in the beauty industry.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I would have to say miscommunication, lack of trust, unmet expectations, pride, and fear. When left unresolved people will become distance. But the only thing that can restore that is being vulnerable and expressing how you feel just being straightforward and honest.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes plenty of time in my head lol ! But I just don’t every see myself ever giving up I’ve come such along way from where I started and I just don’t see myself starting back over not that it’s a bad thing but when you have a gift from god you have to continue to cherish and appreciate it.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My family
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would Stop being inconsistent
