DJ ReRe shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
DJ, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I lay in bed and check socials for the most part.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m ReRe, DJ, vibe curator, and founder of REmixed Events and The MixHer, a nonprofit organization that is focused on female Dj’s. I don’t just play music, I create spaces where people can show up as their most authentic selves and have the time of their lives.
As a vibe curator, I’ve rocked major festivals, private celebrity parties, shared stages with top artists and toured the world. I’ve been featured on international TV and in national campaigns, but my real mission is deeper: inspiring people to be bold, have fun, and never settle for “no” or the bare minimum.
Right now, my First Spin DJ Bootcamp is in full swing, teaching future DJs ages 7 and up how to own their sound and their power. I’m also prepping for The MixHer’s next big party on August 17th, an event series that highlights the female Dj’s that are setting the tone in the music industry.
My brand is all about authenticity, fearless fun, and refusing to accept limits. Whether I’m behind the decks or mentoring the next generation, I’m here to turn every moment into a vibe.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Back in 2007, my sorority played a huge role in shaping the path I’m on today. My sisters always saw my energy, my love for music, and my gift for bringing people together even before I fully did. They constantly pushed me to step up, take the mic, and embrace my power. Their support and belief lit the first spark and showed me what was possible when you bet on yourself.
Then, a few years later, I got a life-changing piece of advice from a recruiter I had never even met in person. They told me, “Quit your day job. Take a risk. Go see the world, you’re meant for something bigger.” That one line flipped a switch for me.
Between my sorority sisters pushing me forward and that unexpected push from someone on the outside, I realized I couldn’t play it safe anymore. I was meant to create vibes, empower others, and live life on my own terms. And I’ve been chasing that energy, and helping others find theirs, ever since.
Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
Something I miss, that most people don’t realize, is having a true team behind me. People see the big parties, the packed dance floors, the big energy, and they assume there’s a whole crew making it happen. But the truth is, I do this all on my own.
I’m the DJ, the planner, the creative director, the marketer, all of it. I love the freedom and the control, but sometimes I do miss having that support system, the behind-the-scenes people to lean on and celebrate wins with.
Still, knowing I’ve built this from the ground up on my own makes every moment that much more meaningful.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
I’m really HER in real life. 🙂
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
Whatever I wanted. Not taking chances
