Cat Lantigua shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Cat, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
As of late, I’ve recommitted to writing out morning pages as described in The Artist Way by Julia Cameron, so I kick off my day by writing as I sip my coffee or tea. Afterward, I’ll change out of my PJs and into some athleisure as a way to quickly inspire myself to complete a workout, which is usually a pilates class!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Cat, and I am a multi-hyphenate creative and community architect. I am an author, facilitator, podcast producer, and advocate for social wellness, literacy, and heart-centered connection.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
It’s interesting to notice how so much of my adulthood and journey to return to my truest self has basically been reclaiming the most authentic expression of who I was as a child. I remember being insatiably curious and free. I wore lots of glitter, bright colors, and loved to write in my diary. My earliest memories comprised of me singing in front of anyone who would listen and smiling at everyone who made eye contact with me. I was an uninhibited chatter box who loved to connect with other people.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Oh yeah. To be honest, I would say this was true a little less than two months ago. After facing multiple rejections from roles I was interviewing for, I began to feel defeated. A voice in my head told me things were only going to get worse from here and that there was no point in trying anymore. It was shocking to hear that part of myself speak so loudly because I’ve never been the type to throw in the towel. However, after taking time to reflect and receiving love from those I care about most, I realized this is all part of my journey to the top. Through it all, I am cultivating resilience and becoming a stronger version of myself, while ultimately being redirected toward the path that will make me happiest in the long run.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I think they would say what really matters to me is to constantly be on a quest to make sure I am not only evolving into the best version of myself, but also sharing love and encouragement to others along the way. That I care deeply about contributing to the collective in ways that align with making folks feel less along in this world.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop worrying and fixating on the what if’s and just do. It’s something I am actively working on mastering now!
