Tricia Woviotis shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Tricia, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
The top 3 misconceptions about real estate agents in general are that they 1) just open doors and show houses, 2) get paid too much and 3) only care about commission. But if you’re working with me- this couldn’t be further from the truth. Here’s why:
I don’t just unlock and open doors- I provide market analyses, create pricing strategies, negotiate nearly 15+ items in contracts, manage and coordinate inspections, offer staging advice, and guide my clients through many complex steps from start to finish. Many homeowners believe they can just sell their own home, but according to the Zillow Consumer Housing Trends Report (2024), nearly 21% of homeowners who tried to sell on their own ended up turning to an agent. And according to the National Association of REALTORS® 2024 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, homeowners who listed their home themselves left nearly $55,000 on the table!
Commissions are always negotiable, and while may seem large from a distance, when you zoom in, there’s a lot to consider: Commissions are typically split with the agent’s broker and are usually untaxed. Closings with financing can sometimes take one to two months overall before it is paid out. And there’s also no hourly pay, salary, or company expenses—meaning I work countless hours- including on weekends- emails, calls, scheduling, research, negotiating, driving, and attending showings and inspections- which are essentially all unpaid if a deal falls through.
I find tremendous satisfaction in helping my buyers and sellers achieve their goals. I live by the Golden Rule and value referrals and long-term relationships. It doesn’t matter to me if you’re a first-time buyer, a US Veteran, an experienced home-buyer, need more space, downsizing, or investing— it’s not about the property, it’s about my client.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Absolutely! Well, I’m a South Florida native, a Florida-licensed Realtor®, and a certified interior designer.
My love for homes started in my childhood home. I came from a large family, so it was quite some time before I had a bedroom I didn’t have to share. When that day finally came, I went to the store, bought paint, furniture, bedding, and decorations, and created a space that felt truly mine. I didn’t know it then, but many years later I realized that my true passion was creating beautiful spaces that people love and making them their own.
Now, as a Realtor, I help people find homes they envision as “theirs,” and as a designer, I help them customize those spaces to make them personal and functional.
It is truly fulfilling to see the impact it makes in their lives. As they say, “there’s no place like home,” and I’m here to help make that happen.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
I learned about work from my parents. They were the best examples I could have had growing up daily. My dad worked tirelessly—long days, sometimes weekends, and plenty of overtime. My mom worked endlessly as a stay-at-home mom, with no breaks and self-sacrifice. Looking back, both were wonderful- though different- examples of hard work. Both of my parents worked together as a team for a greater good: the well-being of our family.
As much as I’ve learned from them and through my own experiences about working hard, and giving 110%, and never giving up, and trying to make “good” money, I’ll never lose sight of what is truly important.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
It is crazy to consider how much we (I) consider people’s opinions about ourselves (me). Some more-so than others, but almost every person does to some degree. There is some serious power in letting go of what people think- whether they are friends, family, colleagues or strangers – and whether it’s on a professional level or personal level. Letting go and redirecting that energy towards achieving your goals while staying true to yourself, your values, and your beliefs is incredibly liberating.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
It is- but the public version of me is just a small glimpse of me, not the whole picture. And it also depends on far back we’re talking. There are some things about me that will never change. However, I’m a big fan of growth and evolving too, so some things I said or did a decade ago might just be the older, outdated version of me.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Praise and recognition is wonderful. But I am just not the type of person that has ever needed to be praised for me to try my best- I never really have been! I usually do it for myself. To grow and learn and impress myself is my biggest motivator.
