Story & Lesson Highlights with Leo Tank of Wynwood

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Leo Tank. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Leo, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ince breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I always start my day walking my dogs in the park, that way I start the day chill and breathing fresh air before a little exercise to activate the body and get ready to crush the day ahead.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Leo “Tank” I’ve been tattooing for 10+ years, originally started in my country Argentina, and 6 years ago I moved to Miami to open new frontiers and keep learning and evolving in all aspects of my art.
This last few years I’ve been evolving as an artist and human being, going through some spiritual awakenings, and applying everything I learned in my craft too.
Always prioritizing my clients safety annd comfort above all, trying to bring a very relaxed and zen space to the tattoo shop, to make the smoothest possible the entire tattoo experience.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Always been a big fan of the mind and how it works, and been miself an artist , the logical path of discovery was psychedelics. Having ceremonies of magic shrooms and ayahuasca completely changed the way I see the world, my relationships with my work and other humans.
I love to see the effects of psychedelics on my art, like in my motivation or imagination, specially when I paint or draw.
Obviously I’m not doing anything while I tattoo but it gives me a wider and more elevated point of view when I have to design or create new art.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering teaches you to let go, sometimes we wait until we feel that suffering to let go, but that teaches you to identify those things that brings you suffering and teaches you to let go before that happens again. If you crash your head against a wall it will hurt, but if you learn from that experience, you won’t crash you head never again with that wall, the secret is to embrace all experiences, good and specially bads, as a learning experience. There’s no bad experiences if you learn from them.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
I’m the real me for everything, not everyone might like some aspects of myself, but honestly i couldn’t care less about other people thinks , i am who i am, you’ll loved or hated, but what you see is what you get.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
Definitely I’m doing what I love and following my life’s purpose, of that I’m %100 sure and I act every day accordingly to honor that path, always grateful and humble for the lucky I am to be able to say that.
