We’re looking forward to introducing you to Ivan Garcia. Check out our conversation below.
Ivan, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I’m chasing success not just to come out on top, but to build a lasting legacy for my family and create a life where I can manage my business instead of being consumed by it. It’s about growth, stability, and more time with my kids. Right now, I’m pouring my energy into growing Tuxedo Black Car Services, and a big part of that is developing an app for the company. This app is a game-changer in the works, designed to make booking rides seamless, connect clients with drivers effortlessly, and elevate the whole experience to match our ‘Limitless Luxury Experiences’ promise. It’s a major investment of time and resources, but it’s how I’ll scale smarter, reach more clients, and streamline operations so I can focus on leading, not just doing. I’m grinding harder than ever to make this vision real. If I stopped? That’s failure, plain and simple. It’s not just losing the business or the app; it’s letting down my family, abandoning the dream I’ve sacrificed so much for, and betraying the clients who trust me to deliver. Stopping means I’d be stuck wondering what could’ve been, and that’s not an option, so I keep pushing, no matter what.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Ivan, the founder of Tuxedo Black Car Services, a limo and black car company I built from the ground up in a city buzzing with opportunity. My story? I spent 15 years running warehouse operations, climbing to leadership roles, until the pandemic opened my eyes. I saw essential workers like me get exploited, and with a growing family, a toddler and another on the way. I knew I had to do more. So I jumped in, no safety net, and started this business to provide top-tier transportation with a personal touch. What makes Tuxedo Black Car Services stand out is my relentless drive. I don’t just deliver rides; I solve problems, anticipate needs, and deliver what I call ‘Limitless Luxury Experiences.’ My network of affiliates ensures we can handle any client, any request, anywhere. Right now, I’m working on an app to take things to the next level, streamlining bookings, connecting clients and drivers seamlessly, and scaling the business so I can manage it more and grind less. That’s the goal: build a legacy for my kids, make my clients’ lives easier, and keep pushing forward, no matter the odds.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My parents. My mom and dad always told me I was smart, as most parents probably do. But they didn’t stop there; they pushed me to use that for good. My dad always taught me, no matter the job, to be the best and most professional at it. He’d say, “If you’re a janitor, be the best, most professional janitor out there.” I carry that into Tuxedo Black Car Services and outwork everyone in my industry. I ensure my cars are the cleanest, offer the most amenities, and create an experience so exceptional that clients never want another car service but mine. That’s why I’m building this business into something bigger, even developing an app to streamline bookings and elevate rides, all to deliver unmatched service and build a legacy for my kids.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You got this. Don’t listen to the doubters who don’t believe in you; they’re just afraid. Your ideas are great, so don’t hold back. Push through, persevere, and trust your instincts. No idea is bad—figure it out. Your brain is your strongest muscle, able to see, understand, and solve problems faster than most. Speed isn’t the key; it’s understanding. Write everything down, don’t forget, and close all the loops. Keep going—you’ll make it. And most of all, trust in God. He has a plan, and you’re part of it.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say my kids and holding tight to family values in a world that’s pushing them aside. I love my kids fiercely. Their laughter, their curiosity, the way they see the world with wide-open eyes. That’s what drives me to protect them. Today’s society is obsessed with individuality, rushing kids to grow up, make big choices, and face pressures they’re not ready for. It’s pulling them away from the core family values that ground us, like love, trust, and just being there for each other. My friends know I’m fighting to dial that back, to let kids be kids for as long as they can, like we were decades ago. They’d say I’m all about giving my children a childhood full of joy and security.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I want people to say, like the old sports saying, “He left it all out on the field.” That I gave everything, heart, grit, and soul for my kids and the values that hold a family together. As the main breadwinner, I worked relentlessly to give my children a nice home, safe neighborhood, and good schools, making sure they never needed anything I couldn’t provide. I fought to protect them, to let them be kids in a world pushing them to grow up too fast. They’ll say I stood for love, trust, and keeping family first, no matter what came my way. That I never quit, always pushed through, and left a legacy of showing up fully every day for my kids’ future and our core values.
