We recently had the chance to connect with Lidia Lima and have shared our conversation below.
Lidia, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Yes! Actually, celebrating the 3-year anniversary of my business has made me feel both emotional and incredibly proud. When I started this journey, I had a camera, a dream, and a heart full of passion. I never imagined how many beautiful souls I’d meet or how deeply this work would impact me.
One recent moment that made me laugh and feel proud happened during a family session. A little boy looked at me and said, “You’re really good at this!”, completely unprompted, while I was making silly faces to get him to smile. It was the most honest and unexpected compliment I’ve ever received, and it reminded me that making people feel comfortable and seen is just as important as the final photo.
Running a photography business for three years has taught me so much, about trust, connection, creativity, and resilience. I’m so proud of the business I’ve built, the people I’ve served, and the memories I’ve helped preserve. And I can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Oh Hi!! I’m Lidia, a lifestyle and wedding photographer based in sunny South Florida. I’m also a hopeless romantic, and someone who listens to Christmas music all year long. I created Lidia Lima Photography from a desire to turn fleeting moments into lasting memories, the kind you look back on and feel all over again.
What makes my brand special is the heart behind it. I don’t believe in stiff poses or picture-perfect smiles. I believe in real emotion, deep connection, and photos that tell the truth of who you are. Whether I’m photographing a growing family, a maternity glow, a tearful wedding vow, or two people just wildly in love, my goal is always the same: to create a space where you can just be, and I’ll take care of the rest.
Now three years into this journey, I’m incredibly grateful for how far the business has come, and I’m excited for what’s next. I’m currently working on expanding my services, launching a custom welcome experience for my brides, and dreaming up new ways to make every session unforgettable. This isn’t just a job for me, it’s my purpose, my joy, and my way of honoring your story.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
One of my earliest memories of feeling powerful was the first time I directed a photo session on my own — just me, my camera, and a client who trusted me completely. I remember being nervous, but something clicked once I started shooting. I gave direction, made them laugh, and watched their confidence grow through my lens.
In that moment, I realized the power I had wasn’t just in taking pictures — it was in making people feel seen, celebrated, and beautiful. I wasn’t just holding a camera… I was holding space for someone’s story.
That moment stayed with me. It’s what still drives me today, knowing that I can use my creativity, empathy, and vision to uplift others and freeze time for them in the most honest and heartfelt way.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self:
“You’re stronger than you think, and your dreams are not too big — they’re just waiting for you to believe in them!!!”
There were so many moments of doubt, of comparing myself to others, of wondering if I was good enough. But I’d remind her that everything she’s afraid of is part of the process — and that one day, she’ll build something beautiful from her passion. She’ll create art, touch lives, and find her purpose through the lens of a camera.
So take the leap. Keep going. It’s going to be worth it — and you’re going to be proud!!
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies the photography industry tells itself is that everything has to look perfect — flawless poses, edited skin, staged emotions. But real life isn’t perfect — and that’s exactly what makes it beautiful.
I’ve learned that the most meaningful photos come from imperfect moments: windblown hair, genuine belly laughs, kids being kids, and couples who forget there’s a camera at all. Those are the images that people treasure — not the overly curated ones, but the ones that reflect who they truly are.
Another lie is the idea that you have to constantly compete to succeed. The truth is, there’s room for all of us. When we lead with connection, creativity, and heart — there’s nothing to prove. Just stories to tell.
At Lidia Lima Photography, I’m not chasing perfection or trends. I’m chasing truth — your truth — and turning it into art.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, I think my clients would miss how I made them feel — not just during the session, but in the way I saw and captured them.
They’d miss the calm energy I bring, the way I help them feel comfortable in front of the camera, and how I always catch the little in-between moments — a tight hug, a genuine laugh, a look full of love.
But most of all… they’d probably miss my laughter!
Because if you’ve ever had a session with me, you know I laugh loud, laugh often, and bring all the joy with me. That laugh has been part of so many memories — and it’s helped create a space where people can be real, relaxed, and themselves.
They’d miss being seen, celebrated, and reminded how beautiful their story truly is.
And honestly? I’d miss them just as much.
