Talia Lopez of Miami on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Talia Lopez shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Talia, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
This one might be a little silly because most people mention it, but traveling anywhere really helps me put things in perspective. I’m not sure if it’s the break in the routine or being around different people, but I always come back with more ideas than when I left. I think anyone that’s going through a hard time really needs to take a small vacation- even if it’s one day. Even if it’s in your city. A break in routine is what makes us rejuvenate.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! My name is Talia Lopez, and I’m the founder of Audio Guest Book Miami. We’re the leading audio guest book rental company for weddings, quinces, and events in Miami. With our vintage phones, guests can leave voice messages instead of writing in a traditional guest book. It allows hosts to hear their loved ones’ voices essentially forever. After the event, we deliver all of the messages on a USB keepsake.

The idea came from a moment with one of my photography clients, who told me they had saved a voicemail from their father before he passed away. They kept that message in a safe place because hearing their dad say “I love you” meant everything. That story made me realize that, just like photos, voicemails are pieces of time we get to keep. They capture not just the memory, but the feeling, the voice, the tone, and the emotion exactly as it was.

Right now, I’m focused on growing the business, expanding our collection of vintage phones, and making sure each event feels personal and meaningful. For me, it’s all about helping people hold onto the feeling of a moment, not just the memory of it.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
One of my earliest memories of feeling powerful was running in elementary school. I would always try to be the fastest in the class and pushed myself to beat everyone (it’s a silly memory now). As an adult, running is something I turn to when life feels heavy. It helps me release stress and clear my head. There’s something powerful about going against the wind, feeling your feet hit the ground, and knowing that you are completely in control of your pace and direction.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear that used to hold me back the most is worrying about what people will say. As a business owner, you are always putting yourself out there and sharing your ideas and your work with the world. It can feel scary knowing that not everyone will understand or appreciate what you are doing. That fear made me second guess myself more times than I can count. But over time I realized that the right people will connect with it and the rest are simply not who I am creating for.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes! I think people really connect with genuineness, and that’s something I always try to build into my business. I like to bring as much of myself and my personality into everything I create because I believe it naturally draws in the right people and filters out the ones who aren’t meant to connect with it. It makes me feel like I’m living true to who I am and building something that actually feels meaningful.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I feel that I’m doing what I was born to do. I’ve built two successful businesses that I genuinely love. I’m a wedding and portrait photographer in Miami, where I spend my time capturing couples, grads, and families during some of the most important moments of their lives. I also run an audio guest book business, which has become something really meaningful to me. Both allow me to create and connect in a way that feels personal and fulfilling. Even if I won the lottery, I wouldn’t do anything else. This feels like exactly what I was meant to do.
