We recently had the chance to connect with Lindsay Kaplan and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Lindsay, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Something outside of work that’s been bringing me a lot of joy lately is spending time at animal shelters all over South Florida. I’ve been taking dogs out for the day, giving them a break from the kennel, some sunshine, a pup cup, and a chance to just be a dog. It’s been really meaningful to photograph them, share their stories, and do whatever I can to help them get adopted. There’s nothing better than seeing a dog who was overlooked finally find a home.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Lindsay and I’ve been a fitness instructor for the past 10 years, and movement has always been a huge part of my life. About three years ago, I picked up a camera and started exploring photography, and that quickly became another creative outlet I fell in love with.
This year, I finally launched a passion project that’s been on my heart for a long time: ‘Every Dog Deserves’ , a platform dedicated to helping shelter dogs get adopted through storytelling, photography, and one-on-one outings. I take dogs out for the day, give them a break from the shelter, capture who they really are outside of a kennel, and share their stories in hopes of helping them find a forever home. It’s been the most fulfilling work I’ve ever done, and I’m excited to keep growing this community and mission.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My mom taught me the most about work. She was a single mom who always worked two jobs and never took a day off to enjoy the fruits of her labor. Watching her hustle day in and day out showed me what real work ethic looks like. She taught me to be independent, to always make enough money to support yourself first, never rely on anyone else to take care of you, and that true happiness comes from knowing you can stand on your own two feet.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my younger self: *You’re different, and that’s more than okay.* One day, you’ll thrive because of how different you are and how much you stand out. You’re going to make a difference and depending on who you ask, you might even be a little famous 😉 Keep being exactly who you are.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely!!! The public version of me is 100% real, it’s just one layer of who I am. What you see is genuine: the energy, the passion, the humor, the love for movement and dogs; that’s all me. Like anyone, there are deeper parts that aren’t always shared online. The quiet moments, the tough days, the behind the scenes hustle. I try to show up as my full self as often as possible, because I believe authenticity is what people connect with most.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I’d stop being afraid of flying, LOL. I’d finally let go of that fear and start traveling to see the world. There’s so much out there I want to experience, and I wouldn’t want fear to hold me back from any of it.
