An Inspired Chat with Kat Fleischman

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kat Fleischman. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Kat, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, dancing has been my go-to source of joy. Whether it’s a spontaneous salsa moment in my living room or a proper night out with friends in Miami, movement helps me recharge creatively and spiritually. There’s something magical about the rhythm, the energy, the community — it reminds me to stay playful and present, which ultimately fuels everything I do in the PR world. Also, let’s be honest — sequins and red lipstick just hit different when you’re dancing under neon lights. 💃✨

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Peru, now living in Italy. I’m the founder of Do Tell PR, a boutique public relations and branding agency that lives at the intersection of glamour, global culture, and impact. I’ve been blessed to work with everyone from fashion designers and beauty innovators to tech disruptors and cultural icons — always with a mission to amplify bold, beautiful stories that deserve to be seen and heard.

What makes Do Tell PR special is that we don’t believe in cookie-cutter communication. We go deep on narrative, strategy, and authenticity — all while keeping it stylish and soulful. I’m also passionate about supporting Latina entrepreneurs and helping them own their spotlight. Right now, I’m excited about new partnerships in wellness, AI, and luxury travel — because being multifaceted is the new power move.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was a loud, sparkly little girl with big dreams, a pen in one hand and a passport in the other. I was the one organizing fashion shows in my expansive backyard, making up stories in two languages, and asking way too many questions at grown-up dinner tables. I was curious, expressive, and unapologetically bold — before anyone tried to quiet my voice or fit me into a box. And honestly? That girl is still here. I just had to fight to protect her joy, her voice, and her vision as I moved through a world that often tries to dim that light — especially for women of color.

Now, everything I do — from my PR work to mentoring Latina creatives — is about honoring her. Keeping her spirit alive and helping others reconnect with theirs.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of not being enough. Not polished enough. Not sophisticated enough. Not quiet enough. Not bold enough. It’s wild how the same world that tells you to shine will also try to dim you the moment you take up space. For a long time, I was afraid that if I fully owned my voice — my sparkle, my Spanglish, my hustle — I’d be too much for some rooms and not enough for others.

But what I’ve learned (and keep learning) is that the magic happens when you stop shrinking. That fear only has power when you let it dictate your moves. Now, I remind myself — I wasn’t made to fit in every room. I was made to light up the ones meant for me.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
Smart people are getting it wrong when they treat communication like a broadcast instead of a conversation. In today’s world, it’s not enough to just push your message — you have to engage, listen, and create genuine connection. So many brands and leaders still approach PR and marketing like it’s a megaphone, forgetting that stories live in community and culture.

Also, there’s this trap of chasing perfection or playing it safe, especially in diverse spaces. The real power is in bold, messy authenticity — leaning into your unique voice, even when it feels risky. That’s where real influence lives.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I’d stop saying yes to things that don’t light me up or align with my purpose. Life and time are too precious to spend energy on distractions, drama, or projects that don’t fuel my passion or growth. I’d also stop trying to please everyone — that’s exhausting and honestly, not my job. Instead, I’d focus all my energy on building legacy, deepening relationships, and creating work that truly moves the needle for my community and clients.

Basically? I’d stop shrinking and start living bigger and bolder than ever.
