Catysha Dorcely shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Catysha , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Something outside of work that’s been bringing me joy lately is spending intentional time in the Word of God. It’s been grounding me, reminding me of who I am in Him—not what the world says, but what He declares over my life. The more I dig into Scripture, the more clarity and peace I find, and it’s helping me rediscover purpose, identity, and joy beyond anything temporary.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Catysha Dorcely, and I am a Kingdom Ambassador with a mission to make impact and create legacy. I’ve spent over a decade in the tax industry, where I’ve not only developed deep expertise, but also built a business grounded in integrity and purpose. My vision is to expand my tax firm in a way that opens doors for others—creating job opportunities, building financial literacy, and helping people position themselves for long-term success.
In addition to my tax work, I am a licensed real estate broker based in Central Florida. I believe strongly in helping individuals and families build generational wealth through property ownership and smart investment strategies. For me, it’s not just about buying and selling homes—it’s about teaching people how to build lasting assets and take control of their financial future.
Another core part of my purpose is my ministry brand called T.R.A.P., which stands for Trials Raised Anointed People. This ministry is especially close to my heart because it speaks to my own journey. I’ve faced deep personal losses and life challenges, but those very trials refined me and revealed my calling. T.R.A.P. is a space where I teach others—especially those who’ve come from hard places or “the streets”—that no matter what you’ve been through, there is healing and restoration through Christ. Your past doesn’t disqualify you; it can prepare and position you.
Right now, my focus is on building both spiritual and practical legacy. I want to impact my community by pouring out the wisdom I wish someone had given me. I believe in teaching the right way to build—whether that’s through business, real estate, or faith. Everything I do ties back to helping people recover well, walk in purpose, and build lives they can be proud of.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was a lost little girl—confused, broken, and trying to survive the streets. I didn’t know my worth, my voice, or even my true identity. I wore labels the world gave me: rejected, unworthy, forgotten. I chased things that could never fill the emptiness inside of me.
But then I encountered Jesus Christ.
He found me in my darkest place, loved me when I couldn’t love myself, and reminded me of who I truly was—a daughter of the King. Through Him, I discovered my purpose, my identity, and my voice. I’m no longer that lost little girl. I am redeemed, restored, and rooted in Christ. He gave me beauty for ashes, and now I walk in the identity He created for me—not what the world tried to define.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
The defining wounds of my life have come from learning not to be a people pleaser and realizing that my loyalty—though rooted in love—should never become a prison. I’ve had to understand that just because my heart is big doesn’t mean it belongs everywhere. One of the hardest seasons I walked through felt like it would break me completely. But in truth, it became the fire that refined me.
That trial didn’t just test me—it healed me. It stripped away the need for validation, released me from environments that were draining me, and taught me to be free from attachments to people, places, and things that no longer served God’s purpose for my life.
One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is to walk in integrity. Don’t falsify anything to appear like you’ve “arrived.” Be who you are, even if that process is still messy. Walk in truth, even when it costs you comfort or clout. Doing things the right way may not bring fast results, but it brings lasting fruit.
Most importantly, I’ve learned not to let rejection cripple me. Rejection often feels like punishment, but it’s sometimes God’s redirection. I’ve found healing by choosing to live authentically, letting go of fear, and remembering that peace is worth more than pleasing people.
Healing is a journey, but I now walk it in freedom, truth, and with the grace of God leading the way.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
If you asked my closest friends what really matters to me, they’d say, “That’s Cat—she has a heart of gold.” I’ve always been someone who goes above and beyond for the people I encounter, whether it’s in business, ministry, or just everyday life. I genuinely care. It’s not just about doing things for people—it’s about being present, being intentional, and making sure others feel seen, valued, and supported.
They would also say that I’m passionate about purpose. I don’t just want to exist—I want to impact. I live with a deep desire to represent the Kingdom of God with excellence, and that shows up in how I serve, how I love, and how I lead.
Loyalty, integrity, and authenticity matter to me. My friends know that I don’t move with hidden agendas—I move with heart. I believe in treating people right, showing up even when it’s inconvenient, and being a safe space for others to grow, heal, and become all that God has called them to be.
In short, what matters most to me is living a life that reflects Christ in every room I enter—whether I’m helping someone through a struggle, building something in business, or just being a friend.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When I’m gone, I hope people tell the truth about me—that Catysha was real. She didn’t just talk about love, faith, or purpose—she lived it. She carried a standard that didn’t bend to please the world, but lifted people higher by showing them what’s possible when you build the right way, the kingdom way.
She created space for people to win—not just in business or ministry, but in their identity, their healing, and their legacy. She didn’t gatekeep greatness—she opened the door and said, “Come through.” And in doing so, she left behind more than memories. She left principles, transformation, and a legacy that continues to birth purpose in others.
That’s the story I hope they tell:
She lived full. She loved hard. She built right. And she made room for others to rise.
