We recently had the chance to connect with Leo Figueredo and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Leo, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Something that brings me joy outside of work is travel. I’ve had the chance to explore two incredible countries Turkey and Egypt which were both unforgettable experiences. I also love celebrating special moments in new places, like ringing in the New Year in Nashville and experiencing the energy of Mardi Gras. Traveling gives me a fresh perspective, new memories, and a break from the everyday routine
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Leo Figueredo, and I’m the founder of X-core Miami, a fitness brand rooted in results-driven training, real transformation, and expert guidance. With over 20 years in the fitness industry, I’ve trained a diverse range of clients from everyday individuals to models, beauty queens, and pro athletes. I specialize in personal training, online coaching, and tailored nutrition programs designed to help clients achieve lean, athletic physiques without the fluff. My brand stands out because it blends high-level coaching with media features, including appearances on ABC SoFlo Health, NBC South Florida Live, and Hola Latino Magazine. Right now, I’m focused on expanding our online reach and helping people worldwide train smarter, eat better, and live stronger.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was an insecure and overweight teen before I became the person I am today. Back then, I lacked confidence and direction, but deep down I always had a drive to improve myself and prove that I could become more. That journey of self-transformation physically, mentally, and emotionally is what led me into the fitness world and ultimately inspired me to help others do the same. I turned my pain into purpose, and now I guide people toward their own breakthroughs.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, there was a time I almost gave up. I was just 18 years old when I got my first personal training client someone dealing with mental illness. I was passionate and excited, and after three weeks of solid progress, I was proud of what we were achieving together. But then, out of nowhere, she stopped training with me and started working with another trainer.
He was an older man, probably in his late 30s, and had been at the gym longer. When I asked him about it, he told me I was no good. That crushed me. I was young, still figuring things out, and his words made me doubt everything. I quit doing personal training and just stuck to teaching group fitness classes.
Later on, I had to drop out of college and support my mom after she lost her job. That situation forced me to step back into personal training not just as a job, but as a way to provide and rebuild. What once felt like failure became the fuel I needed. That experience taught me resilience, grit, and that setbacks are often just setups for comebacks.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies in the fitness industry is that you need to rely on endless supplements or gimmick products to achieve a great physique. A lot of companies reach out to me wanting me to promote their products solely based on how I look. But the truth is, I’ve built my body through real, consistent effort healthy nutrition, disciplined training, and a lifestyle that doesn’t include alcohol or shortcuts. It’s controversial because it goes against the flashy marketing and quick-fix culture that dominates the industry. But I believe in promoting honesty over hype. Real results come from real work, not miracle products.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
I’ve definitely gotten what I wanted. I wanted to be featured in a magazineI made it happen. I wanted to be on TV doing demonstrations I achieved that. I aimed for a large social media following I built it. But the truth is, I’m never fully satisfied. Every time I hit a goal, I’m already thinking about the next one. It’s not about chasing status it’s about growth. I always want more, not out of greed, but because I know there’s still more impact I can make. That hunger is what keeps me evolving.
