We’re looking forward to introducing you to Christina Hand. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Christina, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
One of the biggest misconceptions about Cilverbow Botanicals is that, because I focus on natural nails, I must be anti-artificial nails—and that’s just not true. I don’t believe in shaming beauty choices. I believe in supporting healthy ones.
Artificial nails can be beautiful and fun, but they’re best suited for people whose natural nails are already strong and healthy underneath. What I focus on is helping clients understand the foundation of nail health—especially if they’ve had repeated exposure to gels, acrylics, or improper removals.
My goal isn’t to judge anyone’s preference; it’s to offer care, education, and clean alternatives. That’s why I provide safe, damage-minimizing artificial nail removals as part of my services. I meet clients wherever they are in their nail journey—whether they’re transitioning from artificial to natural or just starting to give their hands the attention they deserve.
At Cilverbow Botanicals, it’s not about pushing one style over another. It’s about helping every client feel good about their nails—naturally.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Christina Hand, the founder of Cilverbow Botanicals — Miami’s mobile natural nail salon.
I specialize in bringing clean, wellness-focused natural nail care mobile directly to my clients’ homes, Airbnbs, and events in Miami, FL. My mission is to make natural nail care feel luxurious, accessible, and restorative — without the harsh chemicals or rushed salon experience.
What makes Cilverbow Botanicals unique is that it’s not just about pretty nails — it’s about healthy ones. I use non-toxic, natural, and cruelty-free products, and I focus on educating clients about how to care for their natural nails long-term. Whether you’re recovering from years of acrylics or simply want a more mindful self-care ritual, I meet you where you are — literally and figuratively.
I created this business out of an industry expert need for gentler nail care and a calmer beauty experience, and now I get to offer that same energy to busy professionals, new moms, seniors, and travelers across Miami. Right now, I’m expanding into partnerships with Airbnb hosts to pamper guests, and developing resources to help people transition from salon damage to nail health at home.
Cilverbow Botanicals Mobile Natural Nail Salon is more than a service — it’s a shift in how we care for ourselves, starting at our fingertips.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
At first, I thought it was the moment I officially launched my natural nails salon in Miami,FL — Cilverbow Botanicals. Starting something of my own, on my own terms, definitely felt empowering. But as time went on, I realized the real power didn’t come from the launch — it came from the purpose behind it, and the journey that followed.
Building this business has been deeply personal. It’s taught me patience, confidence, and resilience. I’ve connected with people from all walks of life — helping them feel cared for, seen, and more confident in their natural nails. That’s where the power is: in being able to create healing spaces with your hands, your heart, and your values.
And truthfully? I’d do it all over again. Every challenge, every pivot, every moment of doubt was worth it — because it brought me here, to something meaningful. That’s a kind of power you don’t forget.
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
I used to think that failing meant I had chosen the wrong path — that if things didn’t work out the way I originally planned, I must have made a mistake. But launching Cilverbow Botanicals taught me something completely different.
When I started, I had a more traditional vision — I thought I needed a brick-and-mortar salon to succeed. But as the economy shifted, and as a small, Black-owned business with limited funding, I hit some hard hurdles. At first, I saw those challenges as failures. But what I’ve come to realize is that it wasn’t failure — it was redirection.
I learned it’s not about the spaces I’m in — it’s about how I occupy those spaces. Transitioning to a fully mobile salon has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. Not only has it allowed me to save significantly as a small business owner, but it’s also opened doors to serve clients who prefer or need beauty services at home.
What I once thought was a setback turned out to be the shift I needed to grow smarter, serve better, and move in alignment with my purpose.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
The truth is, many salons in Miami don’t meet the basic cleanliness or ethical standards that clients deserve — and few people want to talk about it. As a nail professional, I see firsthand how some practices not only neglect natural nail health but actively damage it.
It’s more than just cutting corners — it’s about hygiene being ignored. Gloves and masks aren’t being worn. Tools aren’t always properly sanitized. And unfortunately, clients are starting to suffer the consequences — with infections, skin reactions, and even lawsuits happening in Florida over poor salon hygiene.
There’s also a culture of dishonest upselling. A common example? When a tech says they “can’t” do French tips with regular polish — only gel. That’s not true. It can be done. It just takes more time, and instead of educating clients, some businesses use misinformation to push higher-priced services.
While these issues show up in many salons, they’re part of broader industry standards — not one community. It’s not about blaming anyone, but rather calling out broken systems and outdated practices that have been passed down and normalized across the board.
At Cilverbow Botanicals, I created an alternative: a clean, honest, wellness-focused experience that puts client safety and integrity first. I want clients to know they have the right to ask questions, protect their health, and choose services rooted in care — not shortcuts.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think people might underestimate the impact of what I’m building simply because I’ve chosen to stay in a niche space—natural nail care. There’s this assumption that if it’s not trending, loud, or widely mainstream, it can’t leave a lasting mark.
But the truth is, legacy isn’t always built in the spotlight. It’s built in the way you make people feel, the education you provide, and the standards you quietly raise. Most women might still prefer artificial nails—but that doesn’t mean they aren’t craving healthier options, or that their natural nail health doesn’t matter.
My work is about shifting the mindset. It’s about creating a new definition of what “Natural Nail Care” means when it comes to the nail care industry —one that’s rooted in wellness, sustainability, and intention.
So if people misunderstand my legacy, it’s probably because they’re only looking at the size of the market. I’m focused on the depth of the change one hand at a time.
