Hi isabelle, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
What’s Misunderstood About Cosplay
People think cosplay is just dress up or Halloween 365 days a year. It’s not. Cosplay is where fandom meets community.
I’ve worked as both a designer and DJ in this space, and the people I’ve met through cosplay have become some of the most important relationships in my life. This isn’t about putting on a costume. It’s about shared passion, artistry, and belonging.
When you create a cosplay, you’re studying a character, mastering new skills, joining a community of creators who support each other. The conventions where I DJ aren’t just parties. They’re gatherings where people celebrate the fandoms that shaped them.
That’s what people miss when they dismiss it as playing dress up. They’re missing the community, the craftsmanship, and the genuine connections that come from bringing beloved characters to life.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
HAUTECORE transforms cosplay energy into dancefloor magic.
Born in the convention scene and raised on dancefloors, she transforms DJ sets into full fantasy experiences. This is an artist who learned to read crowds at anime conventions, where energy shifts from sing along to rave in seconds and every fan knows their favorite character’s theme song by heart.
HAUTECORE brings that same cosplay magic to every performance. She doesn’t just play music; she creates worlds where Sailor Moon drops meet trap anthems, where Fashion Week meets Comic Con, where your favorite anime opening becomes a bass weapon. Her sets are for everyone who ever wore a costume and felt invincible, who knows that transformation isn’t just about clothes but about becoming who you’re meant to be.
From convention main stages to luxury brand events, she proves that cosplay culture and club culture aren’t opposites but perfect dance partners. This is music for people who build their own fantasy and live it out loud.
Welcome to the HAUTECORE experience: come as your favorite character, leave as yourself.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
What I No Longer Believe as an Adult
When I was young, I’d shrink myself to be liked and avoid conflict. I was miserable and attracted people I had nothing in common with.
The more I embraced who I really was, the more I attracted my tribe. The right opportunities started aligning with my values.
I no longer believe you need to dim yourself to belong. Authenticity draws the right people to you. When you stop trying to please everyone, you find your real community.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
What Suffering Has Taught Me
Suffering teaches you more than success ever will. Grief shaped who I am today. Losing love ones taught me to value the people in my life and my inner peace. No amount of success can fill that void or heal mental pain. Every obstacle I overcome becomes a lesson and an opportunity to grow. When you embrace the pain instead of running from it, it becomes your greatest teacher.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
On Public Image vs. Private Self:
The public sees a curated version, but it’s still authentically me. The glamour, the visuals, the performances: that’s all real self-expression. I’m not putting on a mask; I’m showing one facet of a multifaceted person.
What people don’t always see is the depth beneath the polish. My education, my cultural background, my journey from Queens to Miami to the world all fuel my work. The Caribbean rhythms and anime themes, I mix are influences that molded me. Fashion week energy at conventions shows my range.
I believe in the power of mystique. The glamorous presentation isn’t separate from my ambitions or education; it’s a result of them. I’m comfortable with people seeing what I choose to share, when I choose to share it. That’s not being inauthentic. That’s having boundaries.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I want to be remembered as someone who gave artists and misfits permission to take up space. Someone who didn’t wait for approval. I created my own lane and made it loud enough for others to find their voice. Through my cosplay, DJ sets, and creative work, I build worlds. I blend nostalgia, identity, and raw emotion into experiences that celebrate overlooked parts of culture. Everything labeled “too much” or “too strange”? That’s where I find my power. I want the kids who felt out of place to see my work and realize something important. They can take all those things that made them different and transform them into something that matters. What made them feel like outsiders is what makes them extraordinary. My legacy is about creating the space, I needed when I was younger. A space that says: You belong here. Don’t dim your light. Don’t shrink yourself. Your differences are your superpowers. That’s the world I’m building.
