Hi Shelby, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
My husband and our puppy! We love going on long walks, cooking dinner at home, and cuddling up with a great movie. Our time together brings me immense joy.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Shelby Bransgrove, and I am an interior designer based out of Miami, Florida. My mother and I run a boutique interior design firm – Interiorspaces By Design. We are a full-service firm specializing in both residential and commercial design. We are known for creating timeless, functional, expertly curated interiors. Although we both have distinct personal styles, when it comes to our work, we focus on our clients’ style. To us, the best interior design is about creating beautiful spaces that are reflective of those who live there.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I believe that dishonesty breaks the bonds between people, while trust restores them. Communication is vital to a strong bond. If you cannot communicate openly and honestly with another person, you cannot have a deep bond. True communication requires the ability to receive feedback and self-reflect. Our relationships only deepen when we can accept our faults, work to be better, and validate others. A core value of Interiorspaces By Design is communication. This is how we ensure our client and vendor relationships last for years.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I am a perfectionist, and throughout my life it has been very difficult to let go of this. With excessively high standards, mistakes often feel disastrous. I have learned that perfection doesn’t exist, and mistakes are learning opportunities.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Family is at the core of my values in both my personal and professional life. Interiorspaces By Design is a family firm, and we consider our clients and team to be family as well.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
I am tap dancing to work every day! I get to beautify the homes of wonderful people and make their design dreams come true. Design has excited me for as long as I can remember. When I was a little girl, I always wanted to redecorate my bedroom. Now, I find myself poring over inspirational books and design photos long after I am home from work. I truly love what I do, and this makes my work endlessly exciting.
