Story & Lesson Highlights with Marley Desinord of Pompano Beach

We recently had the chance to connect with Marley Desinord and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Marley, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me starts with music — either mixing something new, practicing a transition, or digging through tracks to find the next fire mix. I’ll usually hop on my controller and practice something different.

If there’s an event coming, I’ll spend extra time building my set, making sure I’ve got clean edits, hype tracks, and crowd favorites ready. I also work on my social media — editing videos, planning posts, responding to comments, and checking what’s trending.

Some days I’ll meet with my dad to go over ideas or prep for gigs. Weekends are usually when I perform, so I make sure my gear is charged and organized. In between everything, I’m just a regular teen too — hanging with friends, going to the beach with friends and hanging out.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey! I’m DJ Marley, a 15-year-old DJ based in South Florida. I’ve had the chance to spin at major events for the Miami Heat, Miami Dolphins, and some of the biggest festivals in the state. Music is more than just sound for me — it’s energy, connection, and creativity.

What makes my brand unique is that I represent the next generation of DJs. I bring my own style, mix in unexpected tracks, and know how to keep a crowd lit — whether it’s a stadium, a private event, or a club. I’ve been building my name not just through music, but also by sharing my journey online and inspiring other young people to chase what they love.

Right now, I’m working on growing my brand even more — releasing mixes, building a bigger presence on YouTube and Instagram, and expanding into merch and live shows. I’m young, I’m driven, and I’m just getting started

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Honestly, my dad saw it first.

Before I even realized how far I could take DJing, he saw the potential in me. He noticed how naturally I connected with music, how I could feel a crowd, even when I was just starting out. He invested in my gear, gave me opportunities to perform, and treated me like a real professional — not just a kid messing around with music.

He believed in the vision before I even knew I had one, and that belief helped me see myself differently. Now I’m confident on stage, behind the controller, and in front of any crowd — but it all started because someone else saw it in me first.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yeah, there were definitely moments where I felt overwhelmed — like early on, when I was still learning how to mix live under pressure, or when I didn’t get booked for something I really wanted. It’s easy to doubt yourself when you’re young in the game and surrounded by older, more experienced DJs.

One time in particular, I had a set where the sound system messed up,, and I just felt like I failed. I remember thinking, “Maybe I’m not ready for this.”

But after that, I realized those moments are part of the journey. Every DJ has off nights — what matters is how you bounce back. I leaned on my support system, practiced harder, and reminded myself why I started. I didn’t give up, and now I’m stronger for it.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes — but it’s just one part of me.

What you see on stage or online is 100% real: I love the energy, I love the music, and I love connecting with people through what I do. That’s all me. But there’s also the side of me that’s chill, focused, always learning, and sometimes just a regular teen figuring things out behind the scenes.

I think it’s important to show up as your true self, but also to know that not everyone sees the full picture. The public version of me is the real me — just the lit version that’s ready for the spotlight. The quiet, behind-the-scenes Marley is just as real too.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I broke barriers, stayed true to myself, and inspired the next generation to dream big — no matter how young they were or where they came from.

I want them to say, “DJ Marley didn’t just play music — she changed the game. She brought energy, joy, and confidence to every room she walked into. And she showed us that age doesn’t limit greatness.”

More than anything, I hope they remember that I made people feel something — whether it was through a mix, a moment, or just being real. That I left my mark without ever trying to be anyone but me.
