We recently had the chance to connect with Rudy Mage and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Rudy, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My day normally starts between 7am and 8am. I have a cup off coffee in bed, check my Coinbase and other investments then head to the Gym @stunnasfit. After an hour work out I hit the sauna for 15 minutes. I get to my office around 10ish, grind it out for a couple of hours and then go have lunch with friends or wife. I might go back to work depending on day if not go home and hang out with my family.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Rudy Mage , co-founder of CHIMU — a brand built for movement, confidence, and performance. At CHIMU, we create premium activewear shorts designed to keep up with your lifestyle, whether you’re training hard, running errands, or simply on the move.
CHIMU was born from a simple idea: activewear should feel as good as it looks. That’s why we focus on functionality, comfort, and design, using high-quality materials that support every stride, squat, and stretch.
More than just activewear, CHIMU represents a mindset — showing up fully, pushing limits, and feeling powerful in your own skin. Our mission is to empower you with gear that helps you perform at your best, without compromising on style.
We’re proud to be building a community that values both performance and purpose. Whether you’re hitting the gym or hitting the streets, CHIMU has your back — and your legs.
Welcome to CHIMU. Let’s move forward together.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
“My mom is the person who taught me the true meaning of hard work. From a young age, I watched her juggle so many responsibilities with such grace — whether it was managing the house, supporting our family, or pursuing her own goals. She never complained about the long hours or the challenges that came her way. Instead, she approached every task with a sense of purpose, determination, and a positive attitude.
One of the most powerful lessons I learned from her was that hard work isn’t just about putting in the hours; it’s about putting in the effort with consistency and heart. She showed me that perseverance and dedication, no matter the obstacles, are what create real progress.
To this day, I find myself remembering her work ethic in everything I do. Whether it’s in my career or personal life, I always hear her voice in my head, reminding me to stay focused, be patient, and give my best in every situation.”
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
Failing hard made me realize that effort alone isn’t always enough — strategy matters just as much. I used to believe that if I just worked harder, I’d eventually succeed. But after failing despite giving it everything, I had to reevaluate. I learned to step back, ask better questions, get feedback, and actually change my approach instead of just pushing through. That mindset shift changed everything for me.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They’d probably say that what matters most to me is genuine connection — being real with people, showing up when it counts, and having meaningful conversations. I care a lot about family, close friends and making sure the people I love feel seen and supported.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say I was someone who truly cared — that I lifted others up, made them feel valued, and brought warmth and honesty wherever I went. I’d love for my story to be about someone who showed up for their family and friends, chased their dreams with courage, and left the world a little kinder than they found it.
