We’re looking forward to introducing you to Daniela Perez. Check out our conversation below.
Daniela, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
For me, it’s discipline and consistency. I’ve worked hard to build healthy habits — in my career, my daily life, and my mental health — and that’s something most people don’t fully see. It’s like quietly building a beautiful home for myself on the inside, one brick at a time.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Daniela Pérez, but most people know me as Daniknows — a Venezuelan makeup artist based between New York and Miami, with over nine years working in the fashion, music, and entertainment industries. I’ve had the privilege of working with global icons like Ed Sheeran, Bad Bunny, Alejandro Sanz, and Messi, as well as on major events like the Met Gala, the Grammys, and the VMAs. My brand is all about more than just makeup — it’s about creating experiences that make people feel confident, empowered, and seen. I also lead the Daniknows Pro Team, a collective of talented artists I train and certify to bring luxury makeup and grooming to clients worldwide. Right now, I’m focused on expanding the team, teaching masterclasses, and developing projects that merge beauty, artistry, and storytelling in fresh ways.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I think my earliest memory of feeling powerful was the first time I realized I could create something with my own hands and see it transform someone’s mood completely. I was a teenager, doing makeup for a friend, and I watched her go from shy and unsure to glowing with confidence. That moment made me feel like I had a gift, the power to make people see themselves differently and I’ve carried that feeling with me ever since.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
One of my defining wounds has been feeling like I had to prove my worth through constant achievement that love and value had to be earned. For years, I pushed myself in my career and personal life trying to meet those invisible standards. Healing came through self-awareness, therapy, and building a relationship with myself where I learned that I am enough simply for being, not just for doing. It’s still a work in progress, but now I approach life from a place of self-love instead of self-pressure.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
I’d say yes, the public version of me is real — but it’s not the whole picture. What people see is my confident, creative, go-getter side, which is genuinely who I am. But there’s also a softer, more private part of me that only shows up with the people I trust. Both sides are true one just lives more in the spotlight, and the other behind the scenes.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I’ve learned deeply that your energy speaks before you do. The way you feel about yourself, the intentions you carry, and the space you hold for others all shape the way the world responds to you more than looks, titles, or even words. When you master your inner world, the outer world starts to align in ways most people think are just luck.
