Paige Jones shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Paige, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
For me, intelligence is the foundation. It’s what helps you read energy and choose integrity. Like, being smart isn’t just about knowing things—it’s about understanding people, situations, and yourself deeply enough to move with intention.
Energy is powerful, but without discernment, it can be chaotic. And integrity is essential, but you need the wisdom to know what values truly align with you. So yeah, intelligence comes first—because when your mind is sharp, your spirit can be grounded, and your actions stay true.
I’m not just trying to look successful—I’m building something that feels right, lasts long, and reflects who I am. That takes brains, balance, and backbone.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Paige—founder of Paige the Stylist, formerly known as Locs by Paige. I started my journey in the hair industry four years ago, specializing in loc care and protective styles. But in 2023, I expanded my brand to reflect the full scope of my creativity and expertise—not just behind the chair, but behind the screen too.
Now, Paige the Stylist is a multifaceted brand offering a wide range of hair care services and educational classes for aspiring stylists looking to master their craft. But I didn’t stop there. I’ve also stepped into the digital space, creating custom branding solutions for entrepreneurs who want to show up professionally and powerfully.
From personalized business bundles to booking site designs, monthly flyer packs, viral business card templates, and more—I help people build brands that look good, feel aligned, and actually convert. Whether you’re just starting out or leveling up, I’ve got the tools, templates, and strategy to help you move smart and stay consistent.
This brand is rooted in creativity, clarity, and community. I’m here to teach, inspire, and elevate—because when you look good and move with intention, success follows.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed I had to fit into a box to be successful. I grew up in a household where academics were the main focus—and while I’ve always excelled in that space as I’ve earned my bachelor’s with honors at 20 and will finish my master’s in a few months, I used to think that was the only path to achievement.
But now, at 23, I’ve learned that success isn’t one-size-fits-all. I’ve diversified my skills, my income, and my impact—and I’ve done it with intention. From the healthcare industry to hair care services to teaching classes, from graphic design to digital branding, I’ve built a portfolio that reflects all sides of me.
I no longer limit myself. I embrace being multifaceted, and I move with confidence knowing that intelligence, creativity, and hustle can coexist. I’m not just building a career—I’m building a legacy that honors every part of who I am.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me to trust in God in a way that success never could. In the seasons of waiting, worrying, and even in the moments of abundance, I’ve learned that faith has to be constant—not conditional.
Working in service-based industries is tough. If you don’t get the client, you don’t get paid—and if you don’t get paid, the bills don’t wait. I’ve had low moments where I didn’t know how things would work out, but somehow, they always did. That struggle became a testament to God’s grace.
Success feels good, but it doesn’t always build character. Suffering taught me patience, humility, and how to lean on something greater than myself. It reminded me that even when I don’t have control, I’m still covered. And that kind of peace? You can’t buy it—you earn it through the journey.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
One cultural value I protect at all costs is the Jamaican work ethic. As a first-generation Jamaican American, I take deep pride in my heritage because it instilled in me the importance of resilience, discipline, and community.
Growing up, I was taught that hard work isn’t just about making money—it’s about character. Jamaicans believe in the dignity of labor, in showing up even when it’s hard, and in pushing through adversity with strength and grace. That mindset—“Wi likkle but wi tallawah”—reminds me that even when the odds are stacked, I’m capable of rising.
I carry that with me in everything I do. Whether it’s helping others, honoring commitments, or staying grounded in tough times, I protect those values because they shaped who I am. They’re not just cultural—they’re spiritual, generational, and deeply personal.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I wholeheartedly believe I’m walking in my purpose. I’m not just doing what I was told to do—I’m doing what I was born to do. There’s a deep peace I feel when I think about my future in beauty and digital marketing. It’s not just a career path—it’s a calling.
Serving others through my work brings me joy. Whether it’s helping someone feel confident in their skin or guiding a brand to shine online, I know I’m making an impact. That sense of fulfillment, that alignment between passion and purpose—that’s how I know I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
I’m building something that’s rooted in love, creativity, and service. And every step I take feels like confirmation that I’m on the right path.
