Josue Vargas shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Josue, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
I think out of these 3, Integrity means the most to me. It’s important for me to be true to my word and to follow through on my promises with the people I love and care about.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Josue Vargas, and I make music under the artist name “Lando & The Infinite Sadness”. To me this project is special because it’s the only outlet I have to truly express myself in a musical sense, where I can go in any direction that calls to me and explore different sides of my creativity. I love that I can take this project from fusing my love of Neo-Soul / Jazz / Hip Hop, and then flipping it to my love of Emo / Alternative / Progressive Rock, and being able to keep it all under the same banner. I’m consistently working on new music and have a lot of songs in the vault being worked on at the moment!
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
This answer is a bit a vague, but really it was getting involved in my local music scene at a very young age (Around 13 years old) and seeing so many young, amazing, creative people in bands around me putting in work, blood sweat and tears into their passions and inspiring me to do the same thing. Especially when those people stayed consistent throughout the years and watched their dreams become more of a reality over time. It really showed me the value of working hard and staying persistent.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Man, I’ll be honest. The thought of giving up is something that leaves and returns to me often over the years. Mostly as I get older and deal with all the responsibilities and curveballs that life throws in the mix of things. Even comparing my journey to others sometimes makes me want to throw in the towel, but as they say “Comparison is the thief of joy” and I know in my core that I’ll always be creating and releasing music because it’s a space for me to be free and express myself that brings me a peace like nothing else can.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I’ll say this, I don’t know how the public percieves me, but it’s important to me to stay true to myself and to be myself authentically. So I’m always the real me, and I don’t go fake for anyone.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel the most at peace when I’m with the people I love and when we can talk, and laugh, and create anything we want together. Without any intent other than to just enjoy the moment and enjoy each other’s presence.
