Lisa Dwoskin shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Lisa, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
My yoga practice completely takes me to another dimension. Every time life gets in the way and I feel stressed or anxious, I go straight to my hot yoga class. This is not a class that I am teaching, it is a class that I am taking. I focus on my breath, the music, the instructor, and it fills me with peace, love and light. Grounds me, centers me, and balances me back to myself again.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
⸻
Hi, my name is Lisa Dwoskin. I graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Exercise Physiology. I’m the creator and host of the transformational TV show Life Rescue, where I help people heal and grow in mind, body, and soul. Coaching, fitness, and giving back to others are my passions, and my mission is to inspire people to create real and lasting change in their lives.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
When I was just five years old, I had a moment that changed me forever. I heard a voice—clear, powerful, and undeniable—that told me I was destined for greatness. The message was that I was meant to make a difference in people’s lives through my knowledge, experience, and the gifts I had been given. I knew in my heart that this voice came from a higher power, which I believe was God. I’m not preaching religion here, but simply sharing what I truly experienced and believed, even as a child.
That moment shaped the way I’ve seen the world ever since. From then on, I’ve always chosen to see the good in people, to see the glass half full, and to live with rose-colored glasses. No matter what life has thrown at me—and there have been many challenges and dark times—I’ve never let it change who I am at my core.
I still believe in the goodness and kindness within people, and I know I was put on this planet to make a difference. My mission is to help others see and feel what I do: that there is always light, hope, and love, no matter the circumstances.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There were definitely times throughout my career when I almost gave up. The hardest transition for me was moving from being a fitness and life coach into becoming a radio and TV host. It was such a different world, and honestly, not always a kind one. In South Florida, I crossed paths with people in the industry who weren’t always honest or ethical. There were times I was taken advantage of, used, and even mistreated—people often mistook my kindness for weakness.
But no matter how difficult it got, there was always this inner strength inside of me reminding me not to give up. That same voice I heard as a child—the one that told me I was destined to make a difference—has carried me through my darkest moments.
I truly believe that the most difficult times in our lives are also the most transformative. It’s in those dark moments that we grow, evolve, and find the strength to keep moving toward the light. And for me, those challenges have only made me more determined to live my purpose and help others do the same.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
An important truth I hold is that happiness is a choice, and most people don’t agree with me on that. In fact, some even get angry or agitated when I tell them that I’m happy more than 90% of the time. They say it’s unrealistic or “not normal.”
But I always explain that I’m not asking people to be happy 24/7. We’re human beings, and of course we all face struggles, negative thoughts, and hardships. What I am teaching is the practice of shifting perspective—turning negatives into positives. It’s about understanding the law of attraction and the energy we put into the world.
When you choose a positive attitude, good things naturally begin to circulate around you. But if you stay stuck in the past or dwell on negativity, it only makes you feel worse and pulls more negativity into your life. To me, it’s not about denying pain or pretending life is perfect—it’s about choosing to see the light, even when things are dark.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, my customers would miss the way that I make them feel. People love to be around me because I am an upbeat, positive person. Like I said, I always look at the glass half full, and I have a gift of helping others feel better about themselves. When I see someone hurting or sad or depressed, I just give them a big hug and tell them everything is going to be OK. I do have a gift of being able to be a voice that heals others. People have always loved to be around me, because I’m always making them feel better. And look better. I specialize in changing bodies, with my fitness training, then I connect it with the mind and sky is the limit.
