Exploring Life & Business with Angelo Garrido of Casa AnKan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelo Garrido.

Hi Angelo, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My path hasn’t been linear at all, and that’s exactly how I like it. I’ve always been obsessed with objects and spaces that have a personality, that tell a story beyond their function. Before Casa AnKan, I was exploring different creative worlds, trying to figure out where my eye and my instincts belonged.

When we launched Casa AnKan, it wasn’t about following trends or ticking boxes. It was about creating a space where design feels alive, where emerging and established voices coexist, and where people can discover pieces that resonate on a personal, almost intimate level.
Looking back, it’s been a process of trusting intuition over convention, curiosity over comfort, and always staying open to the unexpected. That’s what keeps it exciting, and keeps us pushing the gallery in directions we never could have predicted.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not even close, and I don’t think it should be. Any creative path worth taking comes with its share of bumps. For me, it’s been about navigating uncertainty, learning to trust instincts, and figuring out how to turn passion into something tangible without losing the essence of what drew me to design in the first place.

There were moments of doubt, logistics that seemed impossible, and the challenge of convincing people to see value in something unconventional. But those struggles are what shaped the gallery and my perspective, they forced us to be resourceful, intentional, and fearless.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Casa AnKan is a gallery, a space where design and art converge in ways that feel intentional, thoughtful, and unexpected. We specialize in curating pieces from both emerging and established designers, offering a mix of limited editions and unique objects that have personality, craftsmanship, and a story behind them.

What sets us apart is our approach: we’re not chasing trends or mass appeal. Every piece we showcase is carefully considered, and every collection is about creating an experience, not just a display. It’s about guiding people to discover objects that resonate with them on a personal level, pieces that feel alive in a space.

I think what I’m most proud of is how Casa AnKan has become a space for discovery. It’s where risk meets refinement, where unconventional ideas find a home, and where collectors and designers meet in dialogue. The gallery isn’t just about showing pieces, it’s about shaping experiences, pushing boundaries, and celebrating the unexpected in design.

What makes you happy?
A mix of discovery and connection. I love meeting new people in the design and art world, there’s something inspiring about hearing someone’s story or seeing their vision take shape. Music and photography are huge parts of my life too; they keep me curious and constantly looking at the world differently. And honestly, I get a lot of joy from the sense that Casa AnKan is just getting started. There’s this incredible potential to grow, to push boundaries, and to shape how people experience design, and being part of that journey every day is really exciting.
